So looking at istocknow it seems all the Apple stores in the US are well stocked on 10.5" iPad Pro's but the 12.9" are nonexistant and have been except for some random Gold 64GB models. Using the istocknow history feature it seems 90% of Apple stores have NEVER gotten any shipments of Space Gray 12.9" models. Also bestbuy has not yet seen them either. Oddly European stores have plenty of them.

Grr... cmon Apple i want to plop down >$1000k but you're not letting me :( Ships some dang Space Gray 12.9" models.

I think they've been surprised at how many people opted for the larger size this time. Sold out here in Europe where I am.

I've been tracking this because I want to pick up a 12.9" 256g Space Gray and the in store availability date keeps pushing out further and further. The day before yesterday it was in store July 6th, yesterday it said in store July 13th and today it says July 14th. I'm not sure if there is a manufacturing issue or if apple seriously underestimated the demand for the 12.9" version. I did get a notice from iStockNow that there was a single unit in my desired configuration at a store in Santa Monica, but that could have been a fluke.

I highly doubt there is an incredible demand for the 12.9" iPad Pro that Apple can't keep up with and it seems more likely that Apple has some sort of manufacturing issue with the 12.9" model, as the 10.5" is clearly more popular and is getting re-stocked regularly online & in stores while the 12.9" has been out of stock everywhere for a while now.

One thing that's baffling is Apple releasing 3 models with a white bezel and only 1 model with a black bezel, as a lot of people like myself would never buy one with a white bezel, and so since there's only one option for us, the Space Gray with the black bezel are in highest demand & quickly sell out everywhere without restocking the 12.9" model.

I already own the 10.5" 256 GB Space Gray iPad which is great, but would also like to buy at least a 12.9" 64 GB Space Gray to use mainly for stationary purposes while on my desk at home or at work, but they are out of stock everywhere and unless Apple can ramp up stock soon, I'll stick with the 10.5" and not give Apple any more money.

This anecdotal so I understand if you take it with a grain of salt, but I decided to get the 12.9 256 WiFi space grey this past weekend and started checking istocknow and apple in store pickup and noticed that it seemed to be non-existent in the wild. I went in Tuesday to my local store in Los Angeles to check it out in person and decided to ask if they had any despite everything saying they were sold out and they had a few of each configuration and color available to sell. I bought the one I wanted right away and then decided to check the trackers again and they still said sold out everywhere. I even went back to check the stock history and noticed that they never picked up on my store having units in stock, so I don't know if there is something that is preventing the website from getting accurate stock information but that was my experience this week.

tldr: Stock websites might not be 100% accurate, I was able to walk in and get my desired model, and they had a few of each color and configuration available in store

I had the same experience. Istocknow did not have any in stock in my area, but I also decided to go in a check it out. Sure enough they had the 12.9 256gb Space gray in stock...so I bought it right away. Went home, no stock still showed, and has remained since. Wonder if apple is not updating for some reason so people go to store?

Just want to add that the online stock trackers are not 100% accurate. When I bought my 12.9 last weekend, the Apple Store I was at showed as having none in stock (12.9 LTE, 512, SG). Yet when I asked an employee to check, they actually had some and I proceeded to buy one.

She explained that they always report zero before actually running out so as to prevent problems with pickup orders made online. It gives them a safety buffer so they don't get irate customers coming in to pickup their product only to be told it's gone.

Moral of this story is always check with the actual store, by phone or in person. You may be pleasantly surprised as I was.

Ordered a 12.9" iPad Pro 256 GB WiFi + Cellular in Space Gray at an Apple Reseller in Belgium and they said it will take a couple of weeks... Belgian online Apple Store says two weeks, so there is definitely a lack of stock...

I surely hope it gets in store earlier than that!

I’ve been waiting impatiently and am bummed out too. C’mon Apple, get with it and put a bunch pf 12.9 Space Grey’s out there in the wild! You’re the one that choose to offer the black bezel on only one of your four colors, so you need to produce a lot more of the Space Grey to make up for it.

All the Apple Stores are very limited in their 12.9" selection near me. The configuration that has usually been available is the Gold WiFi 512GB. The Gold 64GB LTE is also available. I'm guessing gold isn't that popular...Just recently local stores received the Silver WiFi and LTE 64GB versions but that's it. Everything else keeps getting pushed back further, today the estimate is July 18th for everything else. I would try Best Buy possibly, they seem to have some.

In the week after launch there seemed to be some stock for walk ins, and I managed to snag a last 64GB SG.

Back last week and today to a couple of Apple stores here hoping to get a 256GB SG, and it's a completely different story. The only model available in the city is a 512 gold cellular.

It certainly seems that stock is slipping and that these have become a hot item. Even the pencils were sold out here as well.

And back in stock dates are now showing 7/18 for the stores near me. Good thing I am not in a hurry to get one.

My wife bought me white 512 Wifi for father's day, I wanted to swap it out for SG Celllular so I started tracking stock for few days but there were none available in my area. Went to the Apple store in Fair Oaks Mall, VA Sunday to return it thinking I would just order online. To my surprise they had one left.

They do get some every few days to be sure to check the stores if you can.

Well I am sure the 10.5 is a lot more popular but what I am saying is that a lot more 12.9s are being bought this time around than the first generation. Or at least it seems that way so far. Still not available in any configuration after almost two weeks since I last asked them. I was lucky and went to the store and they had one left.

As I was walking out of the 5th Avenue NYC store yesterday I heard one stock person say, "No iPads." Naturally, this could change.

I hope you all get the color and storage size you want soon.

I have been routinely checking 3 local Apple stores in-person and they have only had an occasional white-bezel 12.9 iPad, but zero black bezel 12.9 iPads.

Checking the online resellers twice a day everyday shows the same results: plenty of white-bezel 12.9 iPads but no black-bezel iPads.

It frustrates me that Apple only produces one iPad with a black bezel, they obviously don’t produce enough of that particular color, all when market research clearly shows that the black-bezel is far preferred over a white one.

C’mon Apple!

At least your local stores have some with white bezels - the two near me have no 12.9's at all.

Seems like the 12.9" sizes are drying up here in the UK too, I've been keeping an eye on the online for an in store pick up and there are no in store pick ups until 12 July, last week however it was same day or next day pick up available.

12.9 has been non existant in stocks where I am since launch, apple online store gives 2-3 weeks delivery time. I coudln't wait and ordered a 10.5" this time. Hope I won't get buyer's remorse over my 1st gen 12.9"

Just an FYI. I found out the other day that apple does not show they have stock if the stock is 5 or less. An apple employee also cannot disclose the exact number that is in stock. I found this very frustrating when trying to get an 12.9 iPad with wifi. I used the istocknow website and setup notifications and that worked best for me.

As an ex-employee, I can verify this. It goes to "low-stock" in store, and shows out of stock online. Those of you waiting should just order online. I was quoted two weeks, and it shipped 3 days later.

If I were to order online for instore pick up could I pick up the iPad or whichever item it may be any time that day or does it have a specific time slot? And as an ex employee do you know how long they hold items for with in store pick up?
