Until the 4th, Best Buy had them in stock for shipping this week and then they rolled into next week. The 4th was the first time i've see the 512/LTE go out of stock since late last week. I've only been watching because mine sat on backorder status while others bought the in stock ones and are playing with them.

Mine shipped the 4th (reality yesterday) and won't reach me until next Wednesday. Slow truck from CA i guess. It stinks because if they had sent it priority I would have had it overnight. Crazy post office.

For the Sarasota FL area, the availability of a Gray 256 is NONE... I find it interesting that the Availability date KEEPS moving ... Today its July 28.... Why even put a date when tomorrow it slips another day... Where is the shortage, is it screens, memory, Qual Comm components?

If the store pickup date keeps slipping that means the store is not getting a restock yet. It's simply your specific online order shipped to that store for pickup.
When the store actually gets volume restock the pickup date will move up to that date until it sells out.

I haven't found that to be the case. My local Apple store has had a 3-4 week pick up time but they occasionally get stock in that would let you pick it up that day.

SO your store for the MOST part does NOT have stock available... Bottom line, there is a SHORTAGE... and iPad Pros are NOT generally available at the store for walkin pickup...

I have 12 Apples stores within a 52 mile radius of my house (SoCal) and none of them have any 12.9 cellular models in stock.

I ordered IPP 12.9, 512, Cell, Space Grey at my local dealer.

Delivery now changed instead of today to in 4 or 5 weeks (uncertain)

The Shop offered me to switch to color Silver cause it's available now.

What should I do?
I never had an Apple Product in Silver and either front Bezels...

Does it really matter?

Wait or take?

Might be both. I do wager that Apple underestimated the demand though.
Another possibility is that they didn't underestimate demand. Could be that it just wasn't worth it to retool stuff and ramp up production on 12.9 models for the short window of time around initial release after which demand is expected to slow down.

And this isn't uncommon with Apple. The iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch (Both Watch launches), Airpods were all in the same situation as the iPad.

It’s kinda weird supply chain guru ceo has a lot of somewhat botched launches on his hands across many product lines innit? :D

As much as I support Apple, I have to agree with you. Their product launches are some Of the most anticipated hardware launches in the world and they usually go sideways in some form or another. It's fairly frustrating at times. Last years iPhone launch was abysmal too.

Silver of what? 512GB? Just get 512, that's it. But SG is better since i owned both first and second iPP 12.9'.
Besides screen of SG is black and I'd rather to be while watching movies instead of white.

I ordered a gold 512Gb LTE 12.9 directly from apple (I have all of my iPads inscribed with my name and phone number) and it took 23 days from order to arrival at my home via fed-ex. This was the longest I have ever waited for delivery on an apple order.

How often does apple get shipments of the 12.9 iPad Pros?

Stores get shipments of merchandise daily. What's in the boxes they get is unknown until they open them. That is where iStocknow comes it to alert you. There is no "regular" shipment of 12.9 cellular iPads right now. You just gotta keep your eye on iStocknow.

FWIW B & H photo has had the 256GB Space Gray Cellulars since Friday. If you are looking for one of those check there to see if they still have it in stock.

Well I am looking for a 12.9 256 Gold Wifi iPad. I did set up a alert on iStocknow.

Still 2 -3 week wait here in the UK. Thats from Apple. I haven't seen a single one from the big retailers yet since launch!

He no longer has to worry about the consequences of messing up under Steve Jobs.

At board meetings he can spin it as cost saving.

Apple is in a sloppy period. Misreading customers needs (MacPro), designing a computer that can't cope with the thermal requirements of latest hardware (MacPro), underwhelming new feature (touchbar), implementing a feature they tout as groundbreaking and limiting it to a specific product (touchbar)... trying to remedy their lack of a pro machine by introducing an iMac Pro which is even gimpier than the trash can Pro.

They do make great products, but their arrogance is clouding their vision.

It's been a long time since a Keynote where things were available "starting today" or where there was a truly awesome "one more thing"

Hopefully they will correct their course and steer Apple in the right direction again.
