Not sure why anyone would spend an extra $600 for 1TB storage just for the extra 2gb ram when there is no speed benefit.

Is $600 considered a small amount in the US now?

I’ll be disappointed if it does turn out that the Photoshop Demo with the 3GB PSD was the 6GB pro as that’s very misleading doing that and then not even marketing that there are different RAM levels in the smaller devices (they don’t list RAM at all in the Tech Specs on the website).

That said I do a lot of photography editing and my old 12.9 Pro was perfectly fine with Affinity Photo and Lightroom so I don’t see why this iPad should be any different, not sure I’d really spend the extra £400 for the extra memory and storage but would be nice to know before you buy what’s actually inside!

I can guarantee you that the iPad they used during the event was the 1TB version. They also used the 1TB version for the journalists after the event as well as sent the 1TB versions to every review website.

We’re making a mountain out of a molehill here, gang.

4 models have 6 gigs of RAM. 35 models have 4 gigs of RAM (a few of those have 2 gigs of RAM, but who’s counting?)

You’re not going to need to buy a 1TB iPP to make your apps run. I get the idea of “future proofing,” but honestly, you’re gonna upgrade before your 512g / 4g RAM late 2018 iPP can’t run apps anymore, anyway.

Mountain. Molehill.

It’s $400 for an extra 512GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. For me, this will keep me from upgrading the device next year and therefore be worth the extra cost. YMMV

Yeah that is if you look at the point of view of the 512gb storage.

I am comparing the price from the 256gb storage which is more than enough for average users. It’s $600 upgrade from 256gb.

If there was a speed increase, let’s say even 10% then it can be considered. We are not seeing any increase but seeing a decrease in some cases.

It’s is all about having the best of the best I guess.

Sadly it will become too late when they will release that they shouldn’t have spent the extra money and should have saved it for the next upgrade.

All this photoshop, which will release on March 2019?

If we are worried about the extra ram so much then those models with 2 gb ram should be considered useless now.

I have still seen some people with the iPad Air 2. How have they survived with their iPad for so long?

I wouldn’t hold my breath.

My 2015 gen 1 iPad 12.9” has 4 GB RAM, just like my 2018 gen 3 iPad 12.9” iPad.

Apple hasn’t increased the RAM since 2015, gen 1 (except for the current 1 TB model).
It was a very good RAM spec for iOS back in 2015 but we're almost in 2019 and Apple are still shipping iPad Pros (avec price hike) with 4GB of RAM. It's just not on. The basic 9.7" with 2GB is a complete joke.

Didn’t know we can connect an external hard disk to the iPad Pro.

I saw that video last night and thought the title was a little misleading. It’s using a WiFi drive device as a conduit and it’s been possible for years now. I used them prior to lightning drives being a thing.

Which makes me wonder, concerning 4 vs 6Gb ram, if true, why ‘not’ just use a 4Gb model for demonstrations? Why did they make sure it was the 6Gb ram model? Certainly not to show off SSD capacity, everything else is the same, ie CPU/GPU, so we’re they concerned about or did they know that 4Gb of ram could/has shown limitations and they wanted to be sure that wouldn’t be shown?

Adobe has been using 2nd gen iPad Pro's for all their demos up until Wednesday (I can't guarantee they've switched to a 3rd gen, but for sure, they FIRST demoed Photoshop on the 2nd gen iPP)...

There hasn't been any hickups that I know of. Other companies and artists have been sent beta versions of Photoshop for iPad and it seems that it works perfectly fine, fast and smooth. All on 2nd generation iPP's.

Look, AGAIN, for the millionth time, the file Adobe demoed was obscenely large (3+ gigs, 150 layers, 9ft x 9ft, at least 300dpi if not 600dpi)... most creative professionals would do that sort of work on a desktop, not an iPad.

If you're going to be doing that kind of work, get a Mac Pro or a MacBook Pro. Or shell out the extra cash for the 1TB / 4g RAM iPP.

The fact that the iPad, even one with just TWO GIGS OF RAM more than MOST iPads, can handle that kind of file is impressive. If you're going to be doing work that ISN'T that size, I'm telling you, you're gonna be fine with any model of the iPP.

That is what The Apple rep told me too. They said most of the new iPad Pro sold have been 64gb and 256gb models with some 512gb models. The 1 tb models are hardly in demand here because people would rather buy the new MacBook for less and be more productive.
