I find a flaw in some of these reviews in that they start with a laptop/desktop and all the things they do on those devices and find fault in iPad if it can’t do them all. There’s a reason Apple still sells laptops and desktops. I won’t argue that iOS on iPad has areas for improvement but I think for a lot of people it could replace their laptop. And for others I’d ask why do they need to use an iPad over a laptop or desktop?
I agree. It’s a narrative that is constantly being pushed (even by Apple) but it seems as though people have found the iPad Pro niche that has been working exceptionally well for quite a few uses.

Last year the iPad didn’t cost up to $2k.
And how many will opt for the 1TB storage? My guess is that number will be small.

I don’t think Apple is really pushing the narrative that iPad can be a laptop replacement for everyone. Thankfully Apple and Wintel OEMs still sell laptops. Apple’s software team can’t keep up with their hardware/chip teams but I don’t think hardware should be delayed because of it. These new Pros will last years, plenty of time for the software to catch up and become more powerful.

I wonder if Rene Ritchie is booty hurt that they didn't make it in Rose Gold, also that guy from The Verge really has it out for Apple doesn't he?:p I'd still rather watch him than these dumb little brats that are all over the place. I will not watch Karl Konrad, Marques Brownlee, Austin Evans, iJustine, and everythingapplepro. If I could block them I would. These kids... My goodness. They are the worst. I'll wait for the grown ups do to their reviews that consist of more than reading benchmark scores.

Watched all the videos so far, I am really psyched for Wednesday. It seems iOS 12 is holding the iPad back but that is as expected. Hopefully iOS 13 will change some of that.

Its kind of strange I don't see any reviews from MKBHD, Jonathan Morrison, MacStories (I guess Viticci has one since he was at the event), Daring Fireball etc.

The OS is what is holding the iPad back. I do hope we get significant improvements and new features with iOS13. I'm a little worried because of the rumours about iOS13 focusing on a home screen redesign but I hope there is also space for actual features.

Verge has really gone downhill. I miss Walt Mossberg reviews.

Adobe Lightroom is a nice application - it almost has feature parity. Getting closer with every update though.

I need access to my presets that doesn’t involve a janky workaround. That alone pretty much eliminate the possibility of using it in a pro scenario

An update was released a few months ago for accessing all your presets.

I really enjoyed the videos from Cnet. That's the kind of reviews I like to see.

Is this exclusive to the iPad version? They don’t appear on my phone version of Lightroom.
Not sure, never used the phone version. But you can easily sync all the preset in Lightroom classic or cc on Mac and they show up on the iPad. Unfortunately cannot directly import them into the iPad.

I thought the Verge's review was spot on! I still think iOS is very limiting, and if you look at the bigger picture, there really isnt much the new iPP's can do that the older generations couldn't handle. The newer generations improve on the old one's for sure with USB C and the Apple Pencil charging, but all in all its still the same functionality as last years iPads.

I was highly hoping to get a new one to be my main device, but he's right in that I shouldnt have to find a workaround to make this work for me. The capabilities should be there already for a cost more than a macbook pro. Hopefully iOS 13 will make some headway and the huge hardware upgrade will pull in some more development. Where is Final Cut Pro for iOS?

Just figured it out. Appears to be a cc feature and presets from classic don’t sync over. This explains why I had no idea this existed.
