Mine will arrive tomorrow. UPS actually received my package on Friday and it takes them so many days to scan and put that darn thing on a delivery truck. Oh well...I am so excited for tomorrow.
Has anyone experienced an issue with the Smart Keyboard draining the battery? I have received mine on Monday and I have noticed the battery drains about 20% within a couple hours with no use of the iPad. First, I thought my Belkin adapter was broken since I always charged my iPad overnight. This morning, I checked at 5:30 am, it was 100% before I unplugged the cable, then I put it in my gym bag and when I opened the Smart Keyboard cover for the first time at 7:30 am, the battery was 80%. It is very annoying and I do not know what to do about it given that I did not use it at all for 2 hours and the batter was down by 20%. Any solution would be greatly appreciated.
Why do you think the battery drain is due to the keyboard? It may be because an app was open, or the iPad was trying to connect to an external server, wifi, or trying to download some kind of content like a podcast. Or maybe the cover didn't close completely in your gym bag and the screen was on for some time. I'm not saying the keyboard is not at fault, I'm merely suggesting that there may be other causes for the battery drain.
Have you seen this behavior repeatedly and consistently since Monday when you got it when the keyboard is attached?
This problem did not happen to me prior to the Smart Keyboard. The iPad and the Keyboard was put in a case that was so snug nothing could move. I am going to try to close all the apps to see what happened, but I do not think it is the issue.
OK. I'm receiving my keyboard tomorrow and will pay attention to the battery usage when it is attached. We can compare notes.
The odd part that I have noticed so far is that when the iPad cover is closed, and not used the battery drains. When I put my iPad on with the keyboard ready to be used on my desk for hours, the battery remains the same. I think it might be a software bug issue, but I will keep observing why it is happening this way.

I've had the keyboard cover on the whole time I've had my be IPP. I do notice that this iPad does drain more quickly than my previous iPad Air. However I am using it a lot more as it's new.
Nothing relating to the keyboard. It doesn't have a battery.
Really? I thought there were small watch batteries under each key.
The Smart Connector transfers both data and power between iPad Pro and the Smart Keyboard — no batteries or charging required. Just attach the Smart Keyboard, then start typing. And when you disconnect, an onscreen keyboard automatically reappears.

Got my keyboard yesterday and am typing on it now. Works pretty good!
Like you and seatton, I am seeing a larger drain when the keyboard is attached, and it seems to occur irrespective of whether the iPad is on or not. Seems like just attaching the keyboard causes a bit more battery drain. Last night I left the keyboard cover attached and closed while out to dinner with friends. After about 4 hours, the battery was down about 10%, which is more than I would expect with the regular Smart Cover.
I've had my keyboard for less than 24 hours, so I want to monitor this more carefully.

I am glad I am not the only one. It does not happen every day though. It has happened to me two days out of six this week. Let's hope this will be fixed soon.
Merciful.
I can't tell if you are joking or are serious. From Apple:

Anyway, when I draw down the battery widget, there is no entry for the keyboard. Only the iPad itself and my pencil.

[doublepost=1513439979][/doublepost]I’ve had the same problem. Last night I had 80% on my battery and when I woke up it was completely discharged. I’ve noticed the power ‘chime’ sounds sometimes when the case is on and folded up. I’ve had a case for about a year and it just started doing this within the last few months. I took it to apple and they swapped out a new keyboard after running diagnostics. Still happening. I thought it might be a settings issue so I erased everything and set it up as a new iPad and still the power drain happens. Not sure what the issue is, but today I’m going to Best Buy to look at other keyboards. I love the design, but this weird power drain is a deal killer. AppleCare couldn’t find anything wrong with either the iPad (via diagnostics) or the keyboard so it much be some kind of edge case.Has anyone experienced an issue with the Smart Keyboard draining the battery?
