Our most demanded request for the iPad is not on those leaks, sadly. No revamped files app, no external storage, let alone mouse/trackpad support.
I guess Apple doesn't want to canibalize its Macbook lineup
Adding mouse support would cannibalize apple pencil sales.
Not having mouse support and a file system is already cannibalizing ipad pro salesAdding mouse support would cannibalize apple pencil sales.

And increase the sales of the Magic Mouse.
Proper file system, mouse support, external storage support.

I’ve long wanted to be able to use my ipad as a second screen to my mac with pencil input (I use mac software that requires a stylus). But I’m a little wary of what Apple is planning here. From what I remember reading, it didn’t seem like a straightforward extended desktop like it is with a normal external monitor. I think maybe the individual mac application might even need to support the functionality. With the recent news that we will be able to use iPad's as a second screen for the Mac, do you guys like that idea? is it a clever idea of Apple to use the iPad and Mac together? personally i like the idea.
- The iPad will get native support for use as a second screen for a connected Mac computer, including Apple Pencil support.

I'd like to have proper second screen support, maybe a bit like Samsung DEX - means you can have things running on different screens.
Surely the new Pro is more than capable of doing this in 2019? its just iOS holding us back.
It’s possible, it’s just whether Apple do it or not. We are rumoured to be getting more iPad specific features, some of which I think will be very helpful. I don’t think they will please everyone tho. Support for external hard drives will probably please a lot of people.
I can see Apple allowing External Drives but then restricting it to certain models or manufacturers just so they can keep some control.... I also don't think mouse support is coming any time soon (which was rumored) - for a lot of people that would keep them from buying a more expensive Macbook
Accessibility features ARE general features. For example, I use Reduce Motion on all my iDevices.Yea Apple likes to have some control so I can see that too. Mouse support was rumoured as an accessibility feature and not a general one. I think if they do it, mouse support will be very limited and probably not done in the conventional sense.
Personally I hope they don’t do mouse support, if people want that then you obviously need a laptop and not a tablet. For example there are certain tasks I can do on my iPad Pro that I can’t do on my Mac, but there are also things that I can do on my Mac that I can’t do on my iPad Pro. That is why I like both. Well that and I really like MacOS and IOS as separate systems. Both are stronger and better devices separate, more so than they would be if they were to merge into one device (like the Surface range).

I also use Reduce Transparency on my older iDevices.

Being able to draw in a Mac application via an iPad and use the iPad screen as an extra Mac screen is definitely a good idea. I’m just hoping it’s not implemented with severe limitations to the point that it won’t be useful for my purposes.I'm not sure, from what i've read it only gives a short explanation of what Apple plans with the feature. I think Apple will explain more at WWDC. It sounds like a good idea tho. Does it mean that we will be able to use the Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro and see the drawing or photo edit appear on the Mac that it's been hooked up too? that would be awesome.
I can instantly thing of a way that would be useful to me, when editing in Pixelmator Pro, if i could edit on the iPad screen and have it appear on the Mac at the same time, i would definitely make use of it.
That argument makes no sense. Why would you turn on mouse support by default if the vast majority of users won’t use a mouse? What I meant was they don’t come already turned on. You have to do that. It’s not a general feature in that it’s probably going to be targeted towards people with disabilities. I don’t think Apple will add mouse support in the way a lot of people are thinking.

BTW, Reachability is turned on by default for phones with home buttons.
I'm in the opposite camp and really hope they do offer mouse support. I'd be fine if they only enabled it while the iPad was docked with a keyboard since that is the only time I'd use it - it doesn't make sense to use a mouse when holding the tablet in your hands, for instance. But the ergonomics of reaching up to touch the screen when using the keyboard is a nightmare.
I would love to see mouse support on the iPad. For those who don’t want it, you can still opt not to use one since I am sure it won’t be imposed.
I’m really excited about June the 3rd. Hope this is justified.
