I'm still not sure how the floating windows thing is going to work in a productive way on a 11" display, for instance. Or a 10,5" display. I definitely don't see it happening for the 9,7" iPads or mini.

But still, taking the decent size of 11", ¿how is it going to be implemented to not take -each window- a big chunk of the display space? I like a better multitask on the iPad Pro, but it's just I don't see it.

Improvement to the Files app, support for external drives and better management of windows for multitasking. The windows management is said to be coming in the form of a card system. The iPad Pro has so much potential with that USB-C port and I want Apple to take advantage of it.

That’s a step in the right direction but isn’t proper file support.
Apple are clearly going to drip feed features for the ipad, as they have since day one, in order to maintain Macbook sales.

Also lots of people who wanted Mouse support are going to love this

It seems like Apple are doing a big year with features for this years IOS 13, if all of these rumours and leaks are true.

I don’t know why because people can certainly own both. I own the 2017 iPad Pro 12.9” but I still own a Mac (2012 iMac) and I plan on buying a MacBook Air (when they fix the keyboard issue). Both have different uses.

Gimme a file system and also more granular controls in the photos app like the ability to hold the last 10 gigs of video locally or something like that. And the ability to rename an album on iOS. I’m iPad only so I don’t have a Mac and the lack of some of these features gimps my “iLife”

This story is now being reported everywhere like fact based off of this one tweet. Is this one developer a good source?

"Speaking on the Connected podcast, MacStorieseditor Federico Viticci revealed an interest in the idea of mouse support, with conversations with others suggesting it could be part of the AssistiveTouch accessibility feature. In researching the possibility, it was found it is possible to have a cursor in iOS when used with the right accessibility hardware, and has been so for years.

According to Viticci's sources, a USB-C mouse could be used in a similar fashion in the future, plugged directly into the iPad Pro's USB-C port without any extra adapters.

A later tweet from developer Steve Troughton-Smith corroborated the rumors, claiming the feature "is indeed in the works.

Yes the guy is a good source on things software related. This kind of thing happens nearly every year, features leak out before WWDC.

This combined with the now likely mouse support would officially make the iPad Pro a laptop competitor.

They cost as much as $2,000 dollars. So I’d hope they can work like a laptop. Plus with the Microsoft surface, I don’t see why apple shouldn’t do this.

But they are not a laptop. They can be a replacement for many people, however if you need a laptop buy a laptop.

I have reservations about the whole mouse thing being brought to the iPad. I’m not sure Apple will do it! If they do I don’t think it will be in a conventional way.

I would love it if we could personalize the keyboard shortcuts but I can’t see that happening since MacOS does not allow for it.

As a lot of us being able to have multiple instances of a same app would be great and of course a real file system.

I really think the iPad has a lot of potential. I have adopted one 2 weeks ago and it has been my go to device since then.

Personally i think IOS 13 is going to make the iPad Pro more of a productive device for a lot of people. I already use my 2017 Pro for drawing, photo editing and some simple gaming. With each generation of the the iPad Pro and IOS releases, we are getting closer and closer to a time when most people will be using an iPad instead of a laptop.

For IOS 13 i would like to see them redesign the home screen, the space in-between icons is wasted in my opinion. I would also love a better files app where i can import photos I'm working on directly into apps.

That being said i do still love to use MacOS and will probably never go IOS only, however if IOS 13 can move the needle a bit more and i'm tempted to upgrade my iPad Pro to the new 2018 version, i might be able to just stick with my iMac as my main and only MacOS machine, rather than feeling the need to purchase a new Macbook (tho i do like the new Macbook Air).

I would really appreciate it if Apple allowed us to connect to network smb and afp shares. Currently I am using DS File to manage my files on my Synology NAS, being able to uses the Files app would be awesome.

An update of certain apps to support basic keyboard inputs is definitely needed. I would like it for example if I could scroll through my pictures in the Photos app using my keyboard or if I could cycle through my pics by using the arrow keys.

With the recent news that we will be able to use iPad's as a second screen for the Mac, do you guys like that idea? is it a clever idea of Apple to use the iPad and Mac together? personally i like the idea.

  • The iPad will get native support for use as a second screen for a connected Mac computer, including Apple Pencil support.

I also saw this and thought it will be great if true

  • The iPad is getting an updated multitasking interface home screen updates, and more

My guess is the iPad is getting more productive with IOS 13.

I doubt we will see floating windows. What it said in the latest ios13 leak, „cycling through different versions of the same app“ sounds more like it. I also dont see what we need floating windows for. We already have floating windows of apps in the 1/3rd view.. don‘t see the point besides that..

In my opinion what would make a HUGE difference and would be such a small thing to change would be a hot folder in the dock to drop files into, that also serves as a „download“ folder for an upgraded, more desktop capable version of safari.

Honestly I'd settle for an Apple calculator shoved over from iPhone and stuck in the middle of the screen with sizing options 1X, 2X etc the way devs used to do with certain 3rd party apps when they hadn't yet optimized their app for more display space on newer hardware... I don't even care if it looks fuzzy, just give me the basic functionality.

Rant: I only post this because somehow sticking "likes" on some other members' posts on this subject didn't manage to communicate my full annoyance that a long, LONG time ago Apple forgot to make their calculator iPad-ready... I'm sick of using Search as a calculator or firing up Numbers for simple arithmetic For the price of an iPad Pro, I should not have to use a 3rd party basic calculator, no matter if free or with ads and in-app purchase options -- especially because Apple actually has the darn thing and just won't set a developer on it for a couple afternoons?! /Rant

Joke: what, did Scott take the source code with him when he left? /Joke

Past that it would be great to have the equivalent of MacOS function Spaces (and related option to site an app in selected Space(s).

And yes, as others have said, to have multiple Notes pages open at once.

Connection-wise: external hard drives. If in theory we don't need a laptop or desktop and iTunes to transfer our music and video holdings any more, then in reality some of us don't feel like redownloading or streaming stuff from the cloud either. Having to get purchased movies and TV shows down again, when we have them archived in external local storage? That's just wasteful of time and bandwidth.

Xcode and hopefully tablet / desktop mode

That won’t happen, the iPad isnt a Surface. I think the most that will happen are a few productivity features and a tweak to the home screen.

What’s rumoured are things like Dark Mode, better multitasking, a better file management app, more windows in a single app.

I think they are also working on external hard drive support. I read a rumour about it a while back.
