Hopefully you guys using whoosh don't have the issue another member had they said it removed the oleophobic coating altogether. Apple used to sell the stuff but they pulled it from the stores.

I recall seeing something about it with the coating on the sport band for the Watch but nothing regarding the oleophobic coating - reference for that?

Thanks to everyone for your input here. I had the same maddening problem with my iPad Pro and fingermarks (why on earth does this happen?? It never used to...) and I finally got a Zagg screen protector which, though rather expensive for what it is, seems to work really well (I suspect you get what you pay for with these things). The screen is a little darker but that's about all. If you get one, just make sure you take your time when putting it on and don't rush. It needs careful handling, but once applied looks really good. Very satisfied.

I have a feeling that this is probably the correct answer. It doesn't seem more finger print-y than my iPad Air 2, at any rate, though it does get messy after using it for a while, especially if I'm not using my BT keyboard.
[doublepost=1517081332][/doublepost]No it’s not the size of the screen, I have the smaller iPad Pro and it is a nightmare trying to keep it clean. I have 2 other iPads and they are a pleasure, I hardly ever have to clean the screen, but the Pro for sone reason seems to collect smears like a magnet does pins. I haven’t used the pensions so it’s not that either. There is something very odd going on here, and for such an expensive item it simply isn’t good enough.

It is either you have severe OCD, or the oleophobic coating was not applied/working correctly. Take it back and get it exchanged. I have the same iPad Pro that you have and it is just as normal as any other Apple product I have. Try washing your hands a little bit more, might actually work for you.

Apple did yank Whoosh for a little bit, however, Whoosh must have changed something up because when I got my Belkin Screen Protector put on my iPhone X last week by the machine at the Apple Store they used Whoosh to clean my screen.

My experience is similar to yours. i thought that my ipad air 2 was a fingerprint magnet... it is no where near as bad as my 12.9 ipad pro. i just recently resolved the issue by applying a matte screen protector. the text is just as crisp but no more fingerprints. had i known how well it corrected the issue i would’ve used one on day-1.

I cleaned the iPad with whoosh since I had ait of really small fibers stuck on the screen that made it feel extremely rough and toothy. After that the screen got way smoother to the touch and swipes.

However I feel that smudges actually make the screen less smooth. It's like there's debris in the fingerprints or something. Especially noticeable when playing games that need joystick-like controls. Don't have this problem on my air 1, but also had it on the iPhone 7 and X. Solved it on the phone with a protector but I don't want to compromise the great iPad screen. I guess it'll get better over time? I recall that my air 1 also felt kinda rough at times. I also think the smart cover is to blame a bit, since everyone I close the cover it leaves tons of dust on the screen that also feels pretty rough.

Agreed. I have the same issue. It might be because they are using a different coating to ensure latency between screen and pencil is excellent.

They actually claim to use oleophobic coating which is the same exact coating on the iPhone X... So, according to the official Apple specifications, the coating is not the issue. I own the iPhone X and the iPad Pro and The difference is night and day! The iPhone X is probably the best mobile display I have ever used... it’s like butter! No dust EVER! I barely have to wipe it ever! On the other hand, my iPad Pro has the feel of an $40 CVS Android burner phone from 2012... I can’t even use the swipe feature on Gboard without my finger hopping... I have to use the side of my pinky finger to navigate the iPad Pro and then it leaves behind thin oil tracks... I am getting very frustrated... If I wanted a cheap tablet experience, I would have bought a Galaxy tab 3 and called it a day... So Apple claims to use the same oleophobic coating but the proof is in the pudding... Sounds like Apple isn’t being completely honest.
