This was the main reason I chose the ASK/silicone case combo over the Create. I wanted to easily be able to switch between using the keyboard and not using it.

When I got my IPad Pro, the Smartkeyboard cover was still a 2 month wait (had to wait 2 months for my Apple Pencil as well) and Best Buy had a shipment of the CREATE keyboards available. Given the sheer size of the iPad Pro, I wanted to get it into something protective right away. I've now traded my CREATE keyboard for apple's Smartkeyboard

Apparently this is not an isolated incident. I had never noticed it on my Pro but today I was installing a dbrand skin when I noticed the slight bend in mine as well. Owned and only used by me, always encased, never abused or sat on. As I searched if this was an issue there is quite a few who have noticed the same thing.

I only had the iPad Pro for a few days, and it's already bent!! I received it last Friday (which was a nice surprise) and this morning I noticed how it had a bend in it. Anyone else with this problem?

(just wanted to add that this is from normal use at home, never put it in a bag or did anything unusual to it)

I bought mine in 11/2015 and it was immediately put in a leather case. It is bowing similar to yours. I take really good care of it and no one has sat on it. I've had many iPads and none have ever had an issue like this!

[doublepost=1477348668][/doublepost]I only have had mine a few months. I took it out of its case to clean it and was surprised to discover the exact same bend that is in your pic. I wouldn't have believed it bent on its own, but I know I didn't sit on it or do anything that would have caused this. Apple refuses to help, what did you ultimately do to resolve it?

Interesting. @Nprn827 @Danjs

In both cases both of you used a case. Is it the official Apple Case? I'm wondering now if improperly designed cases can inadvertently apply a compression effect over time.

[doublepost=1477354941][/doublepost]My case is a soft leather style case that doesn't apply any force.

Well force must have been applied somehow - metal does not spontaneously bend. If the bend was a "bulge" it was probably the battery, but this is a "v" bend... not terribly likely, but it's possible it may have contracted / expanded under changing temperatures, and because it is constrained by the case, it may have been deformed.

I'm not looking to cast blame, just genuinely curious.

I have the same problem with an ipad mini... An apple refuses to help me as well. We have to do something about it!!! Suggestions???

Same as him...cough up the dough to buy another. The mini didn't come that way out of the box.

I too noticed this morning that my IPad Pro also has bowing going on. I too do not have big back pockets so that is out of the question But I do take my IPad with me to the bathroom and leave it sitting on top of the sink while showering starting to wonder if the heat or steam build up in bathroom has anything to do with this.

Nope.

There is no way in the world that the ambient temperature from a bathroom is going to bend that aluminum.

If there is a bend now...look to yourself for the cause.

These things don't bend themselves!

Lol I take very good care of my devices always sell them at retail price all my devices have a case and screen protector resale always goes to the new device and it always pays for the new one so that tells you what kind of person I am when it comes down to the way I treat my devices!
[doublepost=1489076048][/doublepost]Lol this wasn't said when the bend gate came about!!!!!!

That would be the only thing that explains it since my 12 inch iPad Pro has never made it out of the house

I guess you guys haven't seen an iPhone 7 Plus get to the consumer with cosmetic defects well guess what I received an iPhone 7 Plus with a pinched wire between the screen and the chasis of the phone yes it's an eye sore! Apple is aware of it and are working to correct the issue if no one here is a scientist that specializes in alloys don't give me a sarcastic response

How long have you had the iPad?

If it's been several months (or longer)... you are going to have a very hard time convincing Apple to replace it.

Even dropping it on the carpet may cause a bend.

I bought it in October or November last year. It seems like lately I have been having issues with my apple devices I purchase a 15 MacBook Pro in 2015 started having problems with it apple care advised me to take in to be looked at. The service station threw all the stress test at it the MacBook passed all the test they finally thre the last one at it came back it had a bad logic board this mac only had about 30 hours of charge time again I contacted apple relations they knew something was not right the mac is practically new. They send me a brand spankin 15 inch Mac then cosmetic defects on my iPhone 7 Plus now I am noticing this on my 12 inch iPad pro

So which is more believable:

A) The iPad was bent when you got it and you only notice it now, months later

B) Something happened after you got it to cause the bend

I would have to go with B...and it will take some major convincing on your part to Apple, for them to replace it.

The bowing is minimal but I noticed when putting it on the table not significantly like the previous user that definitely looks like it was under some stress but this like I said very minimal.I do pay attention to detail

So if you pay attention to detail...then I double-down on the theory that the iPad arrived bend-free and something happened to it later which caused the bend.

See how easy that was!

....Read.

Seriously, read what he said.

You might have a swelling battery. But the FACT remains that no amount of heat you can pump out of a bathroom will EVER cause aluminum to bend, period. Blame the laws of physics if you have a problem with that.

It would be a lot more helpful if you posted photos of your bend when resting on a table. It could possibly be an expanding battery, in which case the bend would be more of a bloat.

However, if it is anything like in the OPs photo, then the only possible cause is that someone accidentally sat on it or applied physical force somehow. As noted, metal does not spontaneously bend, and "bendgate" was caused by pressure, not temperature.
