I've always used screen protectors but the new iPad I got yesterday seems to look better without it so am thinking I might not bother. Anyone else not use screen protectors?
My brother-in-law also has an M4 Nano glass that doesn't have a screen protector, said the same comment. I used to use it all the time with other iPads. M4 isn't needed. and looks better, that's for sure.

The ESR rules. I have one installed on my M4 13" Pro. It installed perfectly the first time. The system that installs the glass is just short of foolproof. I had a temporary brain fart and installed the glass shield the wrong way with the cutout for the front camera and other sensors on the bottom and not at the top. The glass still installed perfectly. The second screen went on the correct way, just as perfectly, and is still doing its job, just short of 6 months later.

If you plan on doing any sort of drawing, glass screen protectors are a no-go. You’ll have wobbly diagonal lines.
Here is something for you to try.
