Just tried Jump Desktop to connect my desktop PC to my iPP 12.9 2017. IOS is iPad OS latest public beta version. I have a 3-button USB mouse connected to the iPP via a lightning to camera adapter. Mouse control under iOS seems fine but under Jump Desktop, mouse, especially mouse button, does not work well. Is it the reason I need to get a moues like the Citrix mouse? Besides that, what other mouse will work?

Using my 3-button mouse, clicking at the windows icon at the bottom of the scree and scrolling the wheel moved the entire desktop rather than moving the list of programs one by one. How can I solve this issue?

If I use Jump Desktop to connect to the workstation at home (be it running Windows 10 or Linux) from iPP via public wifi, will bad guys be able to hack into my workstation and also gain access to files or install spyware into my workstation?

Yes, you need citrix mouse. There are also other mice working, but they are more expensive. The cheapest is the citrix one. Ipad OS mouse supports does not work in remote desktop, be it Jump Desktop or any other app. There is no scrolling or right mouse button... I would forget trying to use anything but citrix

No, no risk

With Jump Desktop and Lightning to USB Camera ADapter, can we turn an IPP to a Windows PC with full usb port support? I need to connect microcontroller to a Windows PC via usb port for engineering projects.
[doublepost=1566647202][/doublepost]Is there a step by step guide on how to securely connect to a linux workstation? I am using pop os.

1st question: no, not possible. The only thing you can do is using an app to send files over the internet, like send anywhere
2nd question: I don't use linux, so I don't know

Thanks.

Am I correct that the performance of using Jump Desktop + IPP to replace Windows 10/Linix PC depends mainly on three factors: 1. speed of the internet connection, 2. speed of host desktop computer, 3. speed of the IPP?

With current computers and iPP, I guess speed of the internet connection is a main factor in determining the performance. Am I correct? I don't have unlimited 4G data plan with my carrier in Canada. With the speed of free public wifi in the country (e.g. shopping mall, school's wifi, Starbucks, McDonald's, etc), will the speed be sufficiently fast enough even doing 3D CAD realtime manipulations? I don't have a special mouse yet to test it.

factor 3 is almost irrelevant, there is hardly any speed difference between and ipad air 1 and an ipad pro 3rd gen when running jump desktop... however the pros offer more screen real estate
Now when it comes to remote desktop there are 2 kind of speeds, framerate and latency. People tend to confuse them.
Suppose you have very good internet speed, a high framerate will allow you to watch a movie without it being a slideshow. That does not mean latency is slow. Latency is when for instance you write on the the ipad and there is delay in what is written on the screen. Jump desktop has excellent latency (real time) but not great frame rate. The best RD app for framerate is splashotpp, which however has no so great latency. I haven't found a RD app that is great at both and I have tried virtually everything... Having said that if you need both, the best compromise is Anydesk, it has both decent latency and decent framerate. However it will not work with mouse, so no Citrix etc. (only with the limited mouse support from IpadOS). Also the app has less options than Jumpdesktop in general, but it's free, contrary to the other 2.

About your answer for question 1... If I use a MBP to access a Windows 10 PC via Jump Desktop, is it also true that I cannot use the local usb ports of the MBP as usb ports for the remote PC?

no, not possible, but with desktop teamviewer you could send the files from within your RD software. Still it's just sending the files, not using them remotely (you can do the same with sendanywhere from you ipad), let alone using the ports for other things that using files. So, no, impossible, with any RD software.

Thanks for the detailed explanations. I guess for watching movies, I just do it on the iPad OS natively. I don't plan to play games via Jump Desktop but I am curious about the limit. I guess the only time I may need excellent latency is when I use CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks) on my PC via Jump Desktop.

Speaking of the mouse, I cannot find a place to buy Cirtix in Canada. I contacted the company two days ago but they did not reply. Can that Cirtix mouse function as a 3-button mouse under Jump Desktop? Are the other two more expensive mice better?

the citrix x1 has 3 buttons, but I don't think Jump supports the 3rd button, there is no option that I can see, so it's just left and right. I haven't tried the others, like the swiftpoint GT

I tried to run Steam games via Jump Desktop but I was not allowed to do that. How come?

Hi, at home, I am very satisfied with Jump Desktop’s performance on iPP 12.9”. It is like I were using the real workstation on my iPP. However, at school and McDonald’s, the speed is crazy slow. I have to watch the screen being drawn slowly in small blocks. Same thing when dragging a window. Is this normal? If so, this is not a feasible solution to my workflow.

i just discovered remoting into a desktop from iPad. I know. I'm late to the game. I just caught this video and it made me think

If an iPad pro covers 90% of my uses and for the 10% it doesn't cover I can just remote into my Mac (like for programming stuff) isn't that like the perfect setup? What's the downside? I'm sure there's gotta be downsides if I don't hear about this all the time when people talk about how not capable an iPad pro is

I have MBP 15" and iPad 12.9" and need to buy Lenowo laptop to cover the 10% that don't work with Apple

It is normal if the WiFi connection is slow, not unusual with public WiFi at McDonald's or at a school that may have a large number of simultaneous users (combined with a poor IT dept.).

The performance at school and at McDonald's were both very bad. However, at McDonald's, it was slightly faster but I still saw blocks being drawn at the screen.

Now I recall that my Windows PC at home is running at 4K. Could this make a bad situation even worse?

I bought a MBP 15" on the weekend. The performance of Linux under Parallels is 9 times slower than that of my desktop workstation when doing the same simulations. If JumpDesktop is that slow outside home, I just need to wait for my Lenovo P53 to arrive.

I don't know about the 4k question but you should download the Speedtest app and do a check on the bandwidth at the locations you plan to use at. It sounds like your problem is low bandwidth.

If I connect the IPP via 4G, will the issue be solved? I don’t have unlimited data plan.

Again, the answer depends on bandwidth/speed at a particular location. I can get 85Mbps on 4G here in my house but a few miles away it can drop way off due to poor transmitter visibility. Speedtest can give you a bandwidth measure on 4G just as on WiFi.

I just connected a Logitech Master MX 2S to iPad Pro. I tried it under iPad OS Beta 7 and also Jump Desktop. Seems to work fine. What mouse features under iPad OS aren't working that require those special mice?
