I'm sorry Apple that is just criminal. Especially for the 12.9" model. I know they make tons of money off accessories but come on.

iPad Pro still doesn't ship with USB-C charger?

Why do you need a USB Type-C charger? The iPads has a lighting port to charge the device.
The USB-C charger will charge the iPad twice as fast. This would be very helpful especially with the 12.9 iPad since it takes several hours to charge. BTW, the charger is USB-C. You will also need a USB-C to lightning cable.
For the 12.9" it's ridiculous. See my thread about this - Apple gave me a free 29W charger and cable.

Why would I care?
I have chargers, both cable, and wall unit, all over the place. If Apple shipped a USB-C cable and USB-C wall wort, it would be the only one I have, and it would go in a drawer and never get used.
It is only ever going to get plugged into one of the many Lightning cables spread across the house/car/office.
He means USB type C output, which can be coupled with the USB type C to lightning cables that Apple sells.
I'm guessing it was said that using these will enable faster charging, but not that they will come in the box.
it's annoying that they started this usb-c thing and are not going all the way now. All new iOS devices should come standard at least with lightning to usb-c cables, if they can't kill lightning altogether yet..

Probably Apple wants the iphone to be the first one and from next year also the ipad to come as well. Since Apple believes in usb-c into mac, they need next year evey ios product to ship with lightning->usb-c cable

I’d say because the 12.9 has a 41Wh battery (same size as the MacBook). If you don’t want to use the included then leave it packed in the box. I also have lightning cables everywhere, but if I had a 12.9 I wouldn’t mind being able to charge it must faster.
Something I've been trying to figure out. In the keynote they said that the USB C charger will charge the pros twice as fast. I already use that charger for my iPad Pro 12.9, which makes it charge pretty quickly.
Does this mean that the new 12.9 will charge even quicker again, or was it more in reference to the 10.5 pro (as the 9.7 pro didn't support the faster charger with the USB c charger)?

He would have said it's included as a selling point probably, so I am leaning towards sold separately, so people will have to buy it if they want faster charging.
Because the 12w charger that ships with the iPad is ridiculous. And if you have a 12.9" iPad and are using it while charging it doesn't even charge. No fricking way should Apple be selling iPad Pro's with a 12w charger.

I mean so you can use Apple's 29w USB-C charger. The 12w charger it ships with takes forever to charge the device.
Ugh. Looks like I'm gonna have another useless 12W wall wart in my storage bin, and another Lightning-to-USB-A cable I'll never unwrap.
I switched to higher-quality Anker cables ages ago and never travel with an official Apple adapter since they only ever have 1 output and I go with Anker multi-usb chargers.
Sigh. Guess I'll have to blow $85 extra to have a functional quick charging solution.

Apple has three USB-c chargers:
29w (for Macbook)
61w (for 13-inch MBP)
87w (for 15-inch MBP)
Will they make a difference in their charging speed of the new iPad Pros? Of course all three will work, but will there be difference in speed?
I have a 13 inch MBP with Touchbar and the charger says 85w.
I certainly would not try using it with my 12.9 inch iPad Pro. It'd end up looking like a Samsung tablet.
The iPad would still have lightning, it would be at the charging block end and you would use a lightning to USB-C cable.

The 29W definitely works - I think it charges the iPad at 14.5V @ 2A. Not sure what other profiles work, or if they've changed for the 2017 Pros. On stage they were pretty ambiguous about it when they said they could charge with the same bricks from the MacBooks.

It's good to always have the option if you want to charge it a bit faster (I believe 18W is possible from it for the 12.9").
