Does the iPad Pro 10.5 support wireless charging or will it anytime soon with an update? Was thinking of picking one up if it does wireless charging. Thanks for any help!

As slow as wireless is for a phone, I would hate to think how long it would take to charge an iPad. You would need a LARGER charger plate and power supply for sure!

It doesn't support it plus wireless charging is far to inefficient and slow to be beneficial for charging an iPad. 7.5 watts charging an iPad Pro will take forever. The standard charger that comes with it is underpowered and wireless is half that speed with a little bit more than half with 7.5 watt chargers.
Give it 8 hours and it would, yes, assuming the iPad would allow a 7.5W source to charge it - I know my 12.9” iPad Pro won’t charge from a 2.1A 5V (so 7.5W) source.
However for wireless charging to be possible Apple would have to release an iPad with either a glass or plastic back. I don’t see plastic happening and a glass back that size is concerning.
Pointless for the iPad. As qi charging is only 75% as efficient as direct connect and it’s going to take hours longer to charge it’s just not worth it to include wireless charging for iPads. Plus it’s not even going to be able to fill the battery enough to keep it topped up when you are using it.

There's plenty of high quality plastics available. I think glass backs are crazy. What is Samsung's excuse for putting a glass back on their "new and improved" Tab S3 since, as far as I know, it doesn't have wireless charging?
I don’t know if this will be enough for an iPad Pro. I have an iPad mini 2 and an iPad Air and I use the wireless charging add on receiver card (link below). They are less that $8. It’s not fast but it does work. I normally charge it overnight or while I’m at work.
However, even if this does charge as well on an iPad Pro as it does with what I have, there may still be another issue. The charging pads are not large enough to hold the iPad Air stable enough. I use the wireless charging stands, and it can handle the iPad Air, barely. If that card can handle the iPad Pro as well as my iPad Air, you may still need to figure out a way to hold the larger Pro.

It would take an entirely new wireless charger. The coils would need to be larger along with a larger power supply. It would still be slow.
I don't see the need for it, and I also echo the sentiments about the potential of the charging being too slow
The iPad Pro actually does support wireless charging via the Smart Connector. I use this daily on both of my iPads, it is slower as mentioned, but plenty fast if you are working on them all day. I leave the day with both my 10.5 and 12.9 fully charged thanks to them being on the LogiBASE and them charging via the Smart Connector.
I love not needing to plug my iPads in anymore and can’t imagine working on them any other way now.

I might get that for my Pro 9.7 thanks for sharing. Do you know the difference between the 1X and 2X versions? I couldn't find anything on the site. Which version do you have?
Happy to couldn’t imagine my desk setup without mine. I believe that is simply the quantity - it looks like they give you a discount if you buy 2 at a time. I got mine refurbished on Amazon.
Thanks! I was trying to figure it out because the pictures looked identical so I didn't know if one version was for the 12.9 and another for the 9.7 & 10.5. But after looking again it appears it is just the quantity.
FYI, Best Buy currently has these on clearance at the moment, new for $70, with free shipping or store pickup. MSRP is $100.
I've looked at many reviews. They are either really great and positive, or they are really bad and complain about slow charging and device incompatibility. Considering these stands are sold on the Apple Store, I assume they are 100% MFI certified and so the problem reviews are probably due to people using inappropriate cables or chargers.
I feel like we're going to need a lot stronger glass before we see wireless charging on the iPad. I could see it working with Apple's AirPower though. Maybe it could use two charging pads at a time for faster charging? Not sure how precisely aligned things would need to be for that to happen. Apple would need to show some kind of a thing on the display that helps you line them up if that's the case.
Lining up isn’t the issue. It magenetically locks in place. The biggest issue is expectations, you won’t get a super speedy fast charge, especially if you are using it with screen brightness cranked up to 100 percent. If you have screen brightness at a moderate level you’ll be charged up after working on your iPad all day, which is great for me since I’m working on the dock all day at work and it makes it so I don’t need charging at night.
For the 10.5” I’m fully charged much quicker and by late morning its topped off. The 12.9 is a bit slower as its a huge battery.
