Apple should unlock the bootloader on iPad's that are not supported anymore.
I’m confused, where did I say they do care? I’m saying the opposite. You seriously believe that Apple gives a damn about battery life? They have a many years long credit of sacrificing battery life to save .1mm that nobody asked for. All this battery saving is just their convenient excuse to make you buy a new product. I have iPad 2018 and the battery is great. Performance is great.
I don’t have the keyboard, but the keyboard for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro has always been described as weak. People have replaced it over and over because it isn’t very durable. That’s not normal with Apple products, it was a bit surprising, honestly.100% Agree regarding the iPad Pro 9.7. My only complaint is the Apple Keyboard (folio, I think.). I am on my second one, and this one hasn’t worked in over a year. I want to buy another one, but prices and limited availability have made it too difficult. But the iPad itself… still awesome. And I’ll use it as long as I possible can!
I thought so as well and so i read the message once more…I'm surprised they would drop support for the iPad mini 5, when the latest and greatest iPad mini is the 6.
Looks like they edited the post, it used to say 8thno? It says 6th gen and beyond will be supported in the article…
Maybe they updated the article because it says the Mini 5 is supported.I'm surprised they would drop support for the iPad mini 5, when the latest and greatest iPad mini is the 6.
Which iPad do you have? That means iPadOS 16 will be my final iPad OS, as I have no interest in buying another extra large phone. I was a big fan of the iPad for years, but the device just doesn’t work for my real productivity projects.
I expect the iPad min 7 this year as it gets a non promotion 90hz frame rate bump to resolve the concern about motion issues. That and a m2 8gb ram, goes with 128 go SSD baseline. If if costs slightly more so be it. Next year it will be The Air’s turn. Hope this years requirements don’t change much as far as supported devices.Which iPad do you have?
Battery life isn’t great on iPadOS 16 though. Even though it will probably be supported, I don’t see Apple making any efforts whatsoever to maintain the best possible battery life.I hope the A10x in the 2017 Pro is supported for one more year. Still works great, would be a such a waste to cut it off
On that note most business's keep their devices 3 or 4 years depending on categories. Phones and iPads would be 3 years I think then swap them out. Computers are 4 years typically. So nothing Apple is doing would interfere with deployments/usage for enterprise community. We'll see how much courage Apple has this year - how much longer they are willing to listen to the dufuses in marketing that told them dropping so many macines last year from support would sell so many more Macs... which of course peed off so many, made millions of people and businesses so angry, and disappointed, that Mac sales took a 40% dump.
Apple needs to stop the mysterious bullpoo and state EXACTLY how long each device will be supported into the future. Businesses, and regular people, don't like trying to calculate future costs based on Apple's secret crystal ball.
What are you talking about. The article says iPad Mini 5th generation and newer will be supported?Pretty harsh for owners of iPad Mini 5th gen. It was only released 4 year ago (2019) and I bought mine new as the most current iPad Mini less than 3 years ago. It seems like a big middle finger to tell users of technology that is only three years old that it is now obsolete.
What the hell kind of businesses are you talking about? Real, private businesses use their hardware AS LONG AS THEY CAN make more money with it. Or more to the point, for as long as they can avoid spending money to keep doing the same thing they have always done with the machine. Computers do nothing fundamentally different now, in comparison to 2003. Go to any corporation, any organization, any hospital. 10-15 year old machines are NORMAL.On that note most business's keep their devices 3 or 4 years depending on categories. “M2 iPad Pro 11” and 12.9”, iPhone 14 Pro Max”. Of course.Apple needs to be more aggressive killing off older devices to clear space for greater product innovation. I fear all these older supported devices are holding us back. People are happy to buy the new products when support for their old one is ended.
