Mouse support in iPad is real. In accessibility.

Also full keyboard control for the entire UI (opposite of Voice Control.)
I’m guessing they didn’t mention it on stage because they want the iPad to be thought of as a touch device. So it’s there for power users/as an accessibility feature. No trackpad support though, only mouse.

The Verge says Bluetooth is supported also, not just USB. They just updated their article to include this about Mouse support...

No text selection is a “no no”. That’s the main reason why mouse support is so needed. And no, I will not buy a macbook instead

Where in that thread does it say you cannot select text with the mouse?

I was thinking the same thing. It said no right click. You can still hold and double click to select text to show the copy popover. This is not a Mac

Has anybody got this working? Trying to pair my Magic Mouse 1 with my 10.5” Pro. It is recognised and I type in 0000 for the pin, and then seemingly a part of it is connected (I can press the left and right click buttons and customise their actions), but I just get a spinning loading indicator and it never fully pairs nor can be used to move the cursor.

Got this working with a really old Logitech mouse on my iPhone 6S! Didn’t get to try text selection. Basically the thing works just like a finger, so you’re limited to how a finger would select text. If you click and held over a word, it’ll probably select that word, and then you can drag and select from there as you would with your finger.

You can scroll with the scroll wheel though! Right click (at least with default settings) Brian

Got it to work in the end with my Magic Mouse but I move the mouse an inch and it flies across the whole screen... can’t seem to turn down cursor speed anywhere. Will be interesting to see how this feature develops, perhaps in iOS 14 it will be marketed beyond an accessibility feature.

I have to wait til I get Lightning to USB adapter tomorrow from Amazon. Wanna try the Magic Mouse 2 but know way to connect to bluetooth, has to be plugged in first like on macOS.
