Your picture is a clear example that you mistreat your iPhones. I don’t use screen protectors of any sort or cases, my displays _never_ look like that. You obviously are carrying your phone in your pocket with other objects or something that is coming to contact to scratch display that looks like that.

Uh no. Way to come to conclusions without reading what I said. I keep it in my pocket with my wallet just as I have all my other iPhones. None of them have scratches like this. I just looked at my iPhone 5 and 4s and they are scratch free. Treated the exact same way. If not worse since I had them both for a year.

I’ve had my iPhone 11 pro 4 days and it was noticeably scratched day 2

Incorrect. This is the post below that I quoted and that I read in this thread, you said _nothing_ about your wallet whatsoever anywhere in this thread. My conclusion is valid, being you never insinuated anything about your wallet or where you keep your phone in your in this post, only that it’s ‘horrendous’ with the scratches.

That said, clearly something is scratching your display when you’re carrying it in the same pocket as your wallet, perhaps rethink your strategy of how you carry your phone or what else is in your pocket that’s causing those types of scratches.

For reference, again:

My iPhone pro Max screen after less than 2 weeks. Quite horrendous. Worst I’ve seen on any iPhone and I’ve owned them all. My other 11 pro is also noticeably bad after 5 days of use

It’s not valid as I just invalidated it. I also mentioned it is the worst out of all my previous iPhones. So even if I mistreat my phones like you assume then wouldn’t you assume my other iPhones are just as bad if not worse since the glass is apparently weaker?

Nice deflection. So, were going to indicate where you mentioned anything about your ‘wallet when you carrying your iPhone in the same pocket’ in this thread? I mean, you said I was assuming, so please point out specifically where are you posted that. You never made any quotes about your wallet being in the same pocket as your iPhone, so please point out specifically where it says that in this thread.

Anyways, since you don’t have evidence of that, my assumptions _are_ valid, you mistreat your iPhone displays for it to look like that. So perhaps again, rethink your strategy how you carry your iPhone in your pocket.

You make no sense. I just told you it’s in my pocket with my wallet but apparently you know better than me. Even if it was not said until after your assumption it was said and therefore your assumption is incorrect, but let’s ignore that and ignore the fact that i said it’s worse than any iPhone I owned because your not logically putting two and two together and leaving that big part out.

It’s completely unnecessary to rehash the same thing over, I already gathered that. But your prior post you indicated that the iPhone was not in your wallet until you mentioned it _after the fact_. Because you stated your iPhones were just scratching horrendously, but you never indicated why, and then you pointed out your wallet in the same pocket was the reason until I questioned you. You’re making this way more difficult than it needs to be.

More related to the topic:

That said, you mentioned in a prior post that the glass might be ‘weaker’, well it’s not necessarily the glass, on top of the glass is the Oleophobic coating, which essentially is a naturally organic layer to protect against smudges/fingerprints. But in your case, that almost looks like a keys or something else scratched your display, like you might have debris in your pocket. But I wouldn’t blame Apple for your own actions with your iPhone, that’s your from your own doing, clearly.

I’ll rehash this again - You make no sense. You can assume, but your assumption was proved wrong.

You can assume

......Accurately😁

Let me know whenever you find that specific post you were inferring to your ‘Wallet’ _before_ I quoted you when you claimed your iPhone was scratching without indicating why in the first place. Case in point.😁

iPhone pro after 4 days. Bottom left is a smudge, but clearly scratches already. There are plenty of news articles on this with a quick google search. Many are having this issue. Whether it’s the protective layer or not it is an issue as it has not been this bad before.

Picked up a 3 pack of glass screen protectors with an alignment tray for under $4 prime shipped for my 11 PM. Well worth the money. Then again, I’m rough on my phones - lots of beach and outdoors - and a screen protector is a needed investment.

Don’t want scratches on your screen, use a screen protector. It’s not rocket science. Surely it’s better to put up with the ‘horrible’ feel of the protector than have permanent scratches on your screen?

I don't think its unreasonable for people to expect a phone to not scratch easily after a couple of weeks, if they're looking after it and using it in a pocket with no coins/keys etc. On top of Apple talking about the toughest glass ever on an iphone. They're setting expectations which don't seem to be being met.

Yes if you want ultimate protection or you think you might be in a tricky environment - sand, grit, pocket/bag jostling with keys etc - you'd probably expect to need a protector.

Are people really that naive though? No, it shouldn’t scratch easily. That doesn’t mean that it won’t. If people use common sense and apply a screen protector they significantly reduce their chances of getting a scratch on their screen.

I used to hate screen protectors. But in my experience iPhones scratch really easily nowadays. I first noticed this on my iPhone 7 - within a year of use it had loads of micro scratches which became super noticeable outdoors. My older phones never scratched like this. I still have an old Samsung note 4, it’s been naked for 5 years and I cannot see any visible scratches on the screen even in sunlight. Anyways my OCD got the best of me and now I put on a tempered glass protector in the store at time of purchase. My last one on an Xs lasted the whole year without any scratches and still looked great.

The other thing I noticed is the coating on a good glass protector is nicer than Apples. This is even more noticeable on their iPad Pro, which has the worst quality coating I’ve ever used and attracts oil within seconds of using it. So for now I’ll just use screen protectors on all my Apple devices. Apple really needs to go back to the drawing board and fix both their glass and screen coatings.

I just don’t understand why people don’t use screen protectors. Like you spend 1000+ dollars on a phone with a beautiful screen and use the screen anytime you look at your phone. Just throw a 10 dollar screen protector on.

It’s unreasonable to tell everyone to use a screen protector. Apple makes the phone to be used without one. Otherwise they would include it on it when you dish out your 1k. This is why they try to make the glass tougher and tougher. They understand how ppl use their phones and engineer it to be used without one. If you want to be extra cautious that’s on you.

But then the folks who don’t use screen protectors come here and bitch and whinge. You can’t have it both ways. No screen protector, you run the risk of scratches. Don’t come crying to me when your screen looks like crap.

Been looking on Amazon for a screen protector that can prevent scratches on the notch. Can you please point me in the right direction? I took this photo from a less than 1 week old iPhone 11 Pro that's been sitting on a table in a store.

the whole point is it shouldn’t look like crap. You shouldn’t have to put a screen protector on it and your letting Apple get away with charging 1k and promises of strongest glass on a smartphone by campaigning for screen protectors. Instead of them fix the issue you want to take it on your own. This is the worst screen issues I’ve had.

Apparently you can have a tough shatter-resistant screen that's scratch prone or you can have a screen that is scratch proof that will shatter easily but you can't have both!

This is the one I use. It's pretty good, easu install, and protects the notch area:

So weird that this is happening to people. I don’t use a case or screen protector. I put my phone face down on tables and throw it in my pocket sometimes with keys (not always on purpose) and I don’t have a single scratch, looks brand new? Bad batch maybe?

They are making it tougher and tougher to break, not scratch, which is a big difference. Scratch protection on an iPhone hasn't improved in years. This is an old article from last year, but explains the scratching. Scratch resistance hasn't changed since 2014, but with bigger screens they are easier to scratch.

And yet, no one here knows how you really treated your phone. All you said was that you ‘put it in your pocket alongside your wallet’. So anything could’ve scratched it in the pocket, and you’re blaming Apple for that? How do we know that this wasn’t due to your own negligence? Or a credit card might’ve scratched your display, etc. Again, don’t blame Apple for something that not everyone else is experiencing because you’re upset that you damaged your own display. Take responsibility.

There are ‘plenty of news articles’ about the iPhone Pro scratching? Do you care to share these links specifically about these ‘news articles’? Obviously something came in contact with it that you’re not aware of, you’re confused and upset, but you want to direct your blame at Apple for something that you did. I don’t understand your mindset. Why don’t you call Apple directly and tell them what happened, and what do you think they’re going to tell you?

You all do realize these scratches are on the coating and doesn’t effect viewing or using the phone. If you only see it with the screen off. Who cares.
