The tougher the glass is to crack the more it is susceptible I scratches. The easier it is to scratched to more susceptible it is to crack on a drop. Hence, you have sapphire glass which is easy to crack but scratch resistant.
Interesting. BUT, regardless of the type of scratches, something at a level 6 or more on the Mohs scale DID scratch or are scratching the screens. JerryRigEverything proves that in his videos.Seems like Zollotech is having the same issue on his iPhone 11.
Not every 2-3 weeks, more like every 4-5 months, or until the glass protector break. A good inexpensive glass bought on Amazon can last like 4 months, I still had a bunch that I bought for my old XSMax that I use now on my Pro MaxAye I get it. To each his own. But I would get tired of replacing the screenprotector every 2-3 weeks.

That is a scratch in the coating.Jerry and other "testers" merely spend a few minutes with the devices, and they don't need to save up to buy them. This means they simply don't spend enough time with the devices to get an every day experience (even if they give their videos catchy titles like "After 2 months with the phone"), and they don't check on these phones after a few days or weeks of 5-15 hours of daily use, since they never use them in the first place.
In that particular video Jerry unboxed, and went through his regular tests, one by one. However, he mainly focused on the back side of the iPhone. He didn't carry it around for days (in his soft cloth trousers pocket). Didn't got dust or fingerprints on it, didn't clean the screen repeatedly, never rubbed it against his T-Shirt, etc. In other words: these videos are fun to watch, but can not be called real scenario usage tests.
I doubt that famous Youtuber and Apple-fan "iPhoneDo" does carry it around either, since he claims to be a perfectionist. Or maybe he put on a full size screen protector (also covering the easy to scratch notch area) first thing after unboxing.
I'm not trying to proof anything here. Just mentioning this as the reason why I did not buy the iPhone 11 Pro when going to the store, after I have seen the scratches, and asking for your experiences/opinions. I was really looking forward to purchasing the new iPhone. I did a lot of reading up and waited for the day, but then was quite taken back, inside the actual store on my day of planed purchasing, by the scratches on every iPhone 11 Pro on display.
I might be ok with spending € 600 on such a phone, and have a € 35 screen protector applied, but not so much for a € 1319 (iPhone 11 Pro 256 GB) + € 239 Apple Care + € 45 case + € 35 screen protector = € 1638 = $ 1800. I will stay with my iPhone 6S for a while longer, meanwhile continuing to enjoy my headphone jack and 3D-Touch.

It is not sand that is the problems as people don’t wear the iPhone’s in the Apple Store in their pants constantly (probably security will come at you if you try it).
At the same time I have used my iPhone X for 2 years (no screen protector) and my screen looks way better than every 3 week iPhone 11 Pro I have seen in the Apple Store which has been under less abuse.
The demo models are not even used alot as the tables are always empty when I check it.

A picture of the scratch.
the whole point is it shouldn’t look like crap. You shouldn’t have to put a screen protector on it and your letting Apple get away with charging 1k and promises of strongest glass on a smartphone by campaigning for screen protectors. Instead of them fix the issue you want to take it on your own. This is the worst screen issues I’ve had.
Or you can just read this thread and see ppl are having issues. You don’t. iPhone XS Max here. Bought launch day. No issues. Goes in my pocket (pants), shirt pocket, face down on my car seat, etc. not a scratch. Perhaps you should stop using yours as a sanding block? Both your photos are clear signs of abuse. Especially the photo of all the scratches. Clearly that screen came in contact with something it shouldn’t have.
Clearly your problems could be resolved with a $5 glass screen protector. Might want to invest in one since you seem to be a bit clumsy with your devices. ?

You are comparing demo phones at an Apple store that are abused daily by hundreds to thousands of people, including 5 year olds that just love to bounce them off the table? Sounds legit. These new iPhone are 100% flawed.
I have compared over 8 iPhone 11 Pro’s in the Apple store which are less than 3 weeks old, yet the screens look far worse than my 2 year old iPhone X.
And my iPhone X has much higher abuse over 2 years as I use it in my pockets while the demo iPhones don’t ino pockets over a peroid of only 3 weeks.
There are over 1000+ users on the Apple forum who have this issue and there are many news articles about this topic, so I believe it now based on what I am seeing in comparison to my 2 year old iPhone X.
Just make sure that they are fully adhesive and not just the edges adhesive .Has anyone tried this protectors? They are the only one’s I found that cover the whole screen (including the notch)

they are generic brands, I bought the Spigen, is good but the notch cutted out looks awful
We have bought iphone 4s, 5, 6, 7 Plus, 8 Plus, iphone X. We never use any phone screen protector and we never have any scratches issue when putting them in my jean pockets or my wife purses/handbags.
We bought Iphone 11 Pro Max and my wife put in the hand bags just couple days and suddenly we got many scratches on the top right of the phone. At first I thought it was a key or the kids did it until I searched and found this thread. We are really really unhappy about this as we paid 1300 and it is not acceptable as the cheap touch screen phone with couple hundred dollars would have better scratch resistant. I suggest my wife bring it to Apple store even thought other claimed Apple did nothing about it for now unless you have Apple care or pay 330 for new screen. I am going to file complaint to others about this so hopefully Apple would take care loyal customers like us.
I looked at several iPhone 11 Pro today in two shops (Premium resellers), and many of the iPhones I looked at had at least some small scratches. At first I thought the cover plastic is still on but they were the legit original iPhone 11 Pros. Scratches were very superficial, not deep, but definitely noticeable. Some look similar to just grease, but they are definitely permanent scratches. Staff was busy, so I just left, but a google search revealed that this might be an issue. Your experiences?
This looks like the right answer based on the photos. My wife wears diamond earrings and has almost the same scratches on the same spot. We put screen protectors on from day 1, so it saved the glass. Last year, she had some on the phone itself from them.Does your wife wear earrings? Diamonds especially would do that, sharp edged metal probs would too.
Are you sure it's the glass that scratches easily, and not the oleophobic coating? The "toughest glass on any phone" (Apple's words) scratches very easily from normal use
