This is hilarious.
The Pixel 4 lovers can only compare it to iPhones to justify the Pixel 4.
Guess what, there are a ton of other better value Android phones than the Pixel 4. Heck, even if you love 90hz so much, OnePlus offers it for less than the Pixel 4. The Pixel 4 is simply a poor value as a whole. And the need for stock Android is just no longer as high value proposition as before.

Well the thread title is iPhone 11 Pro to Pixel 4. But I'm sure Pikachu just saw a Pixel mentioned and had to chime in with a criticism.

Was expecting it much earlier tbh!
Provided a laugh though. ?.

Like @jamezr said, both are fantastic. I couldn’t choose between my 4 or 11 Pro and wouldn’t want to. As is widely known, the battery is the only issue on the 4 for me, but it was on the 3 and I still loved that phone.

Thinking of jumping the ship from 11 pro. Should I get the pixel 4 or XL? I prefer smaller phones but worried about battery.

The battery is most definitely a problem with the smaller Pixel 4.
It isn’t even so much of an issue of it not lasting the day (it doesn’t) but it’s the idle drain. That’s what kills it.

The battery is literally the only thing wrong with the Pixel 4 IMO. Rest is fantastic.

If you go from the 11 Pro to the regular Pixel 4, the difference in battery life will ruin the switch for you. You would be going from the battery life king to arguably the phone with the worst battery life of the mainstream phones in the past few years. Its that bad.

However, if you want to make the switch get the 4 XL. Battery life isnt good, but it'll get most people through a day with 10-15% left. You might have to top it off during the day if you're a heavy user.

Just bought a new pixel 4 xl. Previous iPhone user.

2 Main issues so far

1. What's the equivalent of iPhone's face ID ? I understand not all apps are face ID enabled. But is there a way to auto populate the passwords with face ID ? Right now if I store the passwords using google it automatically populates all my apps without any face ID check. I checked a few password apps and they are all paid apps

Google itself doesn't have anything that does this?? Populate passwords after face ID authentication

2. No easy way to transfer WhatsApp from iPhone without buying some software like phonetrans. My iPhone WhatsApp is backed up on iCloud and I've no way of restoring that on pixel

Thanks in advance.

1. Look at trying a 3rd party password manager. LastPass is one of the best and has a free tier. The benefit of going this route is you’ll have access to your secure passwords and days across all platforms (Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, etc). These apps are far more robust and feature packed as well. And then your Pixel will use Face Authentication to access and auto fill your passwords.

2. I don’t use Whatsapp so this is beyond my area of expertise but I recall seeing this complaint in the past. I am a bit surprised that WhatsApp doesn’t have their own native backup too. Best of luck getting that sorted out.

Your IOS WhatsApps are gone I'm afraid. IOS encripts them and they can't be transferred over.
Finally managed to get it all sorted. All 50000+ WhatsApp messages were transferred using the wazzup migration tool. Had a few issues. Finally figured it out.

Now back to my old issue. A good email app. Already I'm not happy with Gmail or bluemail. Need something like the iOS mail app for multiple accounts. Gmail, outlook and iCloud accounts with nice interface and search features without stopping all my emails on their server

Any recommendations?

I know you already went with the Pixel 4 XL, but I wouldn't have recommended that had I seen this earlier. Not that it would've made a difference. I would've waited until the Pixel 5 because the iPhone 11 Pro is so new that a 5g Pixel could've been a possibility later this year.

Google's phones decrease in value quicker, so keeping the iPhone 11 Pro would've allowed you to snag a Pixel 4 XL later for cheaper or subsidize a lot of the cost of a Pixel 5/5XL later this year.

Nice one. I should have maybe read up more on this Wazzup thingy when I switched from my iPhone X to Note 10 though I don't see the need for recovering messages I've already read?

As for mail apps? I've been trying a few different ones over the last 2 days for my Pixel and have found Spark Mail to be very good.

The only reason I switched is that I got a brand new 4 XL for about $400 (CAD600). I couldn't pass that
Will be selling my 11 pro for about $800

I was going to try spark. Do they store all the emails on their server? An my security issues on that?

From what I remember, Spark arent any better or worse than any other 3rd party email apps. They probably store your emails and login info on their servers. They probably sell some degree of data. They are less secure than using a native app.

Personally I use Outlook but I've used Spark in the past. Its ok. The best I have used are Outlook and Nine mail, but Nine is probably overkill (and expensive) unless you have an exchange server.

As @Awesomesince86 said above. They will store the above info/data on their servers. Too what degree they sell that info is anyone's guess. Probably similar to other 3rd party mail apps tbh.

Fair enough, that isn't a bad price. But given the Pixel 5 is about 6 months away, will you get the itch to switch? I personally wouldn't because the 4 XL should be plenty good for another couple of years at least.

Knowing myself, I'll most likely get the Pixel 5 when it comes out. I'm convincing myself to say i didn't lose that much by selling 11 Pro after a few months of usage. At the same time I got the 4 XL for half the price.

Most likely I'll end up using BlackBerry Hub for my emails. It is pretty good so far and they don't store emails on their server. I'll keep you posted on how it works out.

For what it’s worth, here’s Spark’s privacy policy, at least as they outline it.

Spark Email Privacy: Everything you Need to Know

I’m mentioned before, Spark is my preferred client and I’ve had a good experience using it but have also used Outlook for quite a while in the past and have no qualms recommending either.

I'm not saying they're lying at all, but would any company come right out and admit to selling data? Of course not. They hide it in small print if they devulge it at all.

Oh, I wasn’t trying to insinuate that you were, just sharing some information that I found that the OP had asked about. To be honest, I wasn’t sure of their policy myself so went looking for some details.

Try the BlackBerry hub. It is quite good so far. I'm a big fan of their email apps from the BB10 days. It has everything in one spot. Emails, texts, WhatsApp and other social media messages. You can turn things off if you don't want to see them in the hub.
