Well this really puts me back to square 1 trying to figure out what I’ll buy to replace my SE
Honestly, it’s going to be missing a charging brick and wired headphones. I have wired headphones in my house from an iPhone 4/4s. I have pairs from the iPhone 5/5s/5c and the 6/6s/7/8 then I have all the ones from the iPhone X, XR, XS Max, Another iPhone 7 I bought m, iPhone SE 2020, iPhone XS, iPhone 11 ... point being I have no less than 12-14 pairs of them unused lying around the house.

I used to just sale them on Facebook marketplace, but the $10 I get from them isn’t worth the time, but I did just get a good idea.. I could post on marketplace or somewhere ever pair for $100 obo ... lol but that is another point. My whole point is that honestly what they’re taking out of the box won’t be missed.

My daughter’s kitchen drawer is a jumbled mass of wired headphones. I guarantee you there are no less than 20 pair. We have had a lot of iPhones between us and with my last few phones, I never even took the earphones out the box. I used them so little, a pair would last me years and still be like new. I’m a bit more disappointed that they’ll leave out charging bricks. It just seems like we never have enough chargers and cords for all the devices around here.

Seeing this video has made me more excited to upgrade my XS Max. Even without the charging brick and EarPods, I’m still going to upgrade. I’ll just buy a 20W brick at Apple and I already have AirPods.

Seeing this has convinced me that if I’m not keeping the SE2 long-term (which was never my plan), I need to either go back to an 11, or get an 11 pro.

If it’s true, you could imagine that Promotion kills the battery just a bit too much on an iPhone & that’s why it’s not there.

No pro motion is a big deal for me. The camera improvements would need to be really great to make up for this.

Zoom has to be better but with no periscope lens the zoom quality still won’t be at the level of the samsung line or P40 pro for example.

I agree, having had both an 11 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S20+ for a while. The main reason I left the Samsung was that I'm hoping that there's something decent this time around in the watch upgrade, like (for me) SpO2 measurement, but I don't see it mentioned too much any more. The Samsung, (IMHO) was better all round than the 11 Pro that I have now, speed, screen, camera, everything, and it had two day battery life, or close to it, with the 120hz refresh turned on. I forget what the Antutu speeds were, but I do remember being rather taken aback by the differences in speed, the Samsung was much faster.
On the other hand, I've grown quite accustomed to the facial recognition on the iPhone, and in particular, an app called RunGap that will port my exercises to various other platforms. So??? I don't see an iPhone 12 in my future, and the Watch Series 6 is still depending on it's new features. I mean, come on, a "Hand Washing Timer?"????? :D

Issue is when you look at other options like note 20 ultra it is said to have the exynos chip again so worse than SD chip with it’s known issues so to go from iphone processor to the note line would be a downgrade. Just not sure i want to upgrade my 11 pro max to a refresh rate of the same when all flagship phones should have 120hz/pro motion in 2020.

I was disappointed by the rumour the iPhone 12 Max is a lot more expensive than the earlier rumours. I’ve got my heart set on it though so will probably still get it. The other option would be an 11 Pro I suppose.
I wouldn't hold his reporting too seriously honestly. He flip flops information often in vids.

I was planning on buying a wireless charger anyway. I may also buy the new 18 watt charger for travel (lol like I do that anymore anyway) People just like being mad. It's a good move environmentally to get rid of both from the box. My only concern is if the iPhone 12 (either regular size) gets apple leather cases. I also am really torn on the 6.1 inch size. The comparisons didn't cover how it feels compared to the old + sized phones. That's the compression I'd like to see. if the 6.1 is slightly less wide, (it can be taller) that would maybe be the perfect upgrade from my 6s+. (I'll have had that phone for 5 years!)

With all these wannabe leakers now at least this years iPhone keynote will be interesting.

True, but what about the first time iPhone buyer? Brand new, iPhone and they have no way to charge it.

yeah, but a new iphone buyer is either coming from android that has a usb-c connection brick (fast-charging no doubt), or are buying a smartphone for the first time ever in their life (which would be a minority of buyers and so not a big deal for Apple to piss them off potentially by making them buy a charger extra).

In both cases, it doesn't seem like a big deal to not include a 5w charging brick (*unless I'm missing something in the argument).

That is very true. The leaks so far have shown the iPhone 12 range to be a significant update along with iOS 14 and part of me is expecting a lot of it to be wrong. We are just not used to Apple releasing so much change in be release lol. If the prices have all gone up $50/£50 on each model then that would make the smaller pro model £1100 here this year as it’s currently £1049. I find it hard to believe they’d make it even more expensive as it’s already pushing the boundaries. The standard iPhone 12’s will be the key devices for the market and upping the price even more would further put people off upgrading.

I’ll see what happens as I haven’t fully ruled out getting an iPhone 11 Pro instead yet.

There’s been front page article on similar topics on this discussion. The reality is, I think Apple should eliminate the charging brick and wired earbuds. Everyone knows they have plenty of those laying around in excess (Especially if you have multiple Apple products in your home from other users).

if it helps keep the environment impacted by not having more junk thrown away and Apple can save a few dollars passed on to the consumer in some form or fashion, then I’m all for it.
I agree. I have about 5 usb-a plugs unused around the house. They just gather dust. Similar to that I have earpods too at least three that are old with headphone jack. I still have the lightning headphones from my xs max and iPhone 8. Needless to say glad they’re doing this. I just hope people they’ll lower the price for the earphone for those who want to buy it. I find mine useful for occasional use given I have an AirPods and AirPods Pro. I bring mine when I travel for instance. Don’t want to lose my AirPods.

The iPod touch is (and never had) not coming with a charging adapter. Same goes for all iPods in history.

If you don’t have a wireless charging pad or an adapter, you can charge on your laptop/desktop via USB.

Exactly. [Good point about the iPod touch not including a wall adapter.] And that’s Partially keep the price down at $199. More than anything, Apple doesn’t need to include accessories anymore moving forward for iPhones, they’re useless, have no real value and I’m calling it now, as environmentally friendly as Apple is, they will stop including various hardware for obvious reasons. However, you will have those who will vehemently complain, and those who will not think anything of it.

Qi charging and Bluetooth headphones are universal among all phones. I’m all for them losing the port altogether.

Yup, I suspect that’s coming as well. Apple will probably be the first to make a Portless smart phone, and by doing that, it eliminates any ingress points for a stronger water resistance rating and of course all the hardware repairs i’ll likely have to be direct to Apple if this comes to fruition.

If you’re waiting to get the 12 I would absolutely wait for the phone to come out especially when Apple updates it’s yearly phones you can always expect the best to come.

If you‘re happy with the 11 Pro Max (that’s fine too) You can always upgrade now haha

Im interested to see how the screen plays if they would have upgraded displays or higher nits brightness

As for the empty charger holes, and no wires, that’s always been how Apple rethinks how they bring products to the public. They take stuff that they feel people wouldn’t need or appreciate the likely of. (making products smaller, thinner, removing headphone jacks) etc

It’s just their way of saying Look We Want These To Reach, Just For You, It’s What You Asked For, The Rest Is Because We Make Great Products

LOL (dream... World...)

I’m not due to upgrade until September and would never pay full price for a phone at this point in the year. When I said I haven’t ruled out getting an 11 Pro, I meant getting one at a much cheaper price than it currently is once the iPhone 12 is released. I would never pay £1049 or £1149 for an iPhone anyway, that’s way too much for a mobile phone IMO.
