Has anyone noticed and throttling or lag on their mini 13? I'm using 17.6, and my phone is slow in even most basic tasks - Opening or closing Viber, when i take a photo it sometimes takes 5 seconds to even process it, or sometimes when i calick to take a photo, it doesnt do it for like a second or two causing me to take something completely else, because i already moved the phone after taking a photo, app switching is sometimes slow and laggy, sometimes when i type the keys are lagging behind. I have more than 50% of free space on phone, also changed my battery in summer, so this cant be the cause.

There's no listed fixes for what you describe in later releases. But far from all bugs are listed when in the release notes. If you don't wanna go iOS18 then head for the 17.7.1 release, then you have the latest security updates (and there is al load of them) and bugfixes applied. Might not make a difference but then you are on the same version most have and makes it easier to troubleshoot.
Also, check for app updates.

Although it takes time and adherence to a procedure, one can back up one’s iPhone to a Macintosh and force a full restore on the iPhone using any currently signed OS. I recently did this on an iPad gen 9 and gained a lot of storage space, and the assurance that remnants of prior OSs weren’t still hanging around. But remember, there’s no procedure for restoring data from a later OS! I backed up my wife’s iPhone 12 before upgrading it to iOS 18 in the event that 18 had too much overhead for the older iPhone.

Are any other iPhone 13 Mini users running wireless CarPlay

I'm curious if you also have GPS issues when doing so

I've read that it might be the phone and not the Wireless CarPlay part of things

(Have tried 6 different adapters and implementations of WCP and it always is an issue with my 13 Mini)

What kind of GPS issues? I don't know if this is related but I had a frequent issue on my SE3 when connected to CarPlay in my Volkswagen where my location would be off by yards to miles. I only use wireless--I never tested wired so I don't know if the issue was exclusive to wireless, but I know it was directly related to CarPlay because whenever I disconnected CarPlay my location would return to being accurate. I no longer have the issue, but I've since updated both my phone (to iOS 18 from 17) and my car software, so I don't know if the issue was with the phone or car or both, but I can say it was apparently just a software problem and fixed by updates.

I have a 13 mini, and use wireless carplay all of the time.

I have never had GPS issues, except for in one area, where Maps tells me to go straight on a highway and I take the exit - it doesn't pick up that I got off, and came to a stop at the traffic light until after I turn. Until that point, it thinks I just came to a stop on the highway. I think that's on Maps for thinking the off-ramp is the highway, due to proximity though.

As to what I'll do if they don't release a 17 mini? I'll keep using my 13 mini of course!

Actually, I'm somewhat interested in the 17 "slim" or "air", but only because it's shiny :) If it's not enticing (small) enough, I'll keep using my mini and Apple can pry it from my cold, dead, hands.

Battery is down to 86% health, so if I do keep it I'll probably get a new battery for it.

The iPhone 13 mini is cause of great internal strife at Apple.

The Jobsian sect maintains the human hand should be able to extend to all areas of the screen with ease, and melt into the pocket- and that it's that very formula that separated it from the pact despite ridicule for not 'keeping up with the times.'

The post modernist TikToker sect however, with far more influence at the company, sees a great need for even more than 3 cameras to video document their brilliant influencer thoughts and more inches to immersively review and re-watch them. And transformative personalized Memojis. An iPhone Vision Pro Air Max vision fully realized, if you will.

..The latter sect has unfortunately gone at greater lengths not just to dry up any and all availability of Apple refurbished models for sale on their store, but they've consulted with legal in an attempt to see if there is anything they can do to institute a mandatory recall on the device so it's out of the hands of all consumers and brought to extinction much quicker than the natural progression of assumed several more years of iOS software support.

Man, I wish my 13 Mini still had 86%! Mine's at 74%, and has been used lightly for the most part. What's your secret?

Edit: I had a full charge at 8:00am and 4 hours later...

I got Apple to replace the whole phone for cosmetic damage (and $99 for AppleCare) after about 18 months of ownership due to the Apple case it was in being utterly useless.

Seriously, don't ever buy an Apple silicone case. My phone sustained more damage in the week I had it in one of them, than it has in the entire rest of the time I've owned it.

Ah, so a lot newer phone than Sept '21.

I also got the Apple silicone case to match the phone, and got a little nick on the bezel after a rather innocuous drop. And I was surprised how quickly the case started falling apart thereafter. Certainly not worth $50!

I was at the Apple Store getting a screen protector and I saw an older man asking to have the battery swapped on his phone. They denied it because it was more than 7 years old. Maybe I hallucinated it but that old iPhone he was holding looked tiny!! The 13 mini seemed big in comparison. I wish I knew what model he had.

Edit: after doing some research I think it was an iPhone 5. The size looks right and it supports 4G so it would still be usable today, in theory

The iPhone SE (2016) (aka iPhone SE1 or OGSE) is the same size as the iPhone 5 and has two generations newer internals. While only supported up through iOS 15, it's still a solid phone and usable. 4G/LTE, etc.

One of my biggest issues with the iPhone 12/13 mini is that it wasn't mini enough. Put them back-to-back with their non-mini counterparts and the difference wasn't enough -- both too big. My opinion they were a comprimise that lost a lot of small phone people but obviously don't capture the big phone people. They were not bad phones -- what I would get if I had to get a phone that supported iOS 18 -- not distinct enough to establish a sustainable niche in the market.

I 100% agree with you the mini is not small enough. I own one but I still keep using my SE1 simply due to its size. I just wish battery life was on par with my mini on iOS 15. Sadly we will never get another true, small phone ever again. I think the cellular Apple Watch is that replacement today.

Never say never -- at least one company saw an opportunity in the market and introduced the NanoPhone. Granted not iOS and actually a bit stripped down from an iPhone SE1 but nice to see the market for small phones isn't totally dead. It just so happens that our friend here is only mostly dead...

I have a 13 mini for work, and a 16 pro for personal stuff. The 13 mini still has 95% battery health (got it Nov 2022). I will keep it until the battery starts to die, and then upgrade to whatever the smallest phone is at that time. I don't need a big screen for my work stuff.

I'm not a fan of Android OS, but it's nice that someone makes a small phone. However I'll keep using my trusty OG SE1 as long as iOS supports my daily apps.
