thread posted about it on same day as yours

I have it too. got my first in California. did an even exchange here in Hawaii. same gap on same area. every single display phone had it too. you can only see it in certain lightings at certain angles.

if ppl here say they dont have it, they either arent noticing it or very lucky. if every display phone had it, im leaning towards normal.

I'm going to Apple Store this weekend to look at the display models and have a Genius check out mine. If this is fairly typical and not defective I'm ok with it. I don't notice it all the time anyway.

One more OCD question. Is your phone making clicking sound when you pinch bottom right corner. My 11 pro had same thing, 12 no, and again this 13 pro has it.

Never heard of this ?

How hard are you pinching? From my regular pinching right now there was no clicking sound.

There is indeed a gap. Even the people saying "I don't have a gap" and then proceed to post pictures showing an obvious gap, have them. It's there... and likely needs to be. The real problem here is that the OP is reporting seeing things in the gap. Something that looks like metal. If I look at my 13 Pro it looks totally normal. But at certain angles, where the light is hitting it just right I can see what the OP is talking about. It's likely that's just the way this edition is. But I'm going to the Apple Store tomorrow to double-check.

I have 2 iPhone 13 Pro side by side. One has gap showing metal (my first did too) and one doesn't. The display phones showed the gap. Its luck of the draw

Well, that's interesting. Would you mind posting pics of your iPhone 13s? I have yet to see a single example of one that doesn't have the gap.

I also had this issue on my 13 Pro Max. I got it in gold and noticed it as soon as I took it out of the box on launch day, as the light was catching on the inside of the frame, the same as in some of these photos. You could slide the edge of a sheet of paper into the gap on mine no problem. I booked in for a genius appointment on Monday past, and the guy who looked at it immediately agreed the gap shouldn't be there. Fortunately I got a replacement then and there as they happened to have one in stock and the replacement phone has no gaps of that nature anywhere around the frame.

For those who are saying this is in any way normal, I've bought every iPhone series on launch day since the 5 (as well as iPhones for my job and for other family members) and there's never been a panel gap on any of these phones. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that if you're spending £/$1000+ for a device you should expect better quality control and to not have a phone with an obvious problem on day one.

Hey guys, just a quick question to any new iPhone 13 Pro owners like me:

Do you guys have what appears to be like the tiniest gap in between the top speaker and the steel band? It’s only visible at certain angles in the right light, but i’m worried that I may have received a dud with a broken waterproof seal that will need replacing. Check attached photos to see what I mean.

I appreciate any help, Thanks in advance
It’s a defect take it back unacceptable for the money apple charge

My 13PM has no hint of the gap I'm seeing in other people's pictures - the spacing is totally even on each side of the earpiece grill.

Semantics. "Spacing" or "gap". It does have one. There are no perfectly flush against the outer ring specimens of this series of iPhone that some are suggesting.

I mean I can't see into the inside of my phone like on OP's photos, the rail is flush with the earpiece but there's a slight bezel to the edge of each so it results in a smooth, even channel all the way around but no actual separation. OPs photos look like you can see the inside edge of the frame and some metal bits.

everything else is fine.
speakers working fine, cameras working fine and no gaps anywhere else than top of diplay where the speaker sits. same like you, i can see the speaker housing and everything else, which is not normal! i never had a problem like that before with apple products. last time something happened was with the iphone 6, where i dropped it from like 2 meters hight and the display came out of the frame (but intact, no cracks!)

edit:

by the way my cameras got no gaps, everything else sits perfectly. and i am a pefectionist - if i buy something, i want it right. if the replacement got no gap on the display but on the cameras then, its gonna get replaced again, trust me. i buy their phones, tablets, watches and macbooks (high-end versions ofc all the time) every year and again, first problem like that with their products, and i inspect the products i buy because those products cost way more over here in germany, they dont start at 999$ like said in the keynotes! look it up, thats nearly a month sallary. i am disappointed by them. if i want a cheap quality product, ill go to their competitiors.

they had the best quality since the beginning of their company, and now they seem to be going the lower quality way to get better specs in there, like the 120hz displays.

it probably is not water resistant with that gap. i got the same problem with my 13pm sierra blue 256gb eu version, first batch

called apple and they are sending out another one ASAP (mid october)

i told them that i am going to be on vacation at that time, they looked up the next store to my location i am staying (PUJ Airport reseller shop ?) and told me i can just go there in those two weeks to get it replaced, or simply buy another one and get the bill payed on that one.
they also told me, to not drop it in sand or water with that gap. so i am pretty sure they are aware of this problem and the phone is not water and dust resistant.
customer service from apple is still the best tho in the whole world, except amazon.

i will take a close look at the new one and keep you updated how it turns out!
