If you have a 12 or a 13, no.

Hold on to those.

No need to upgrade every year or two.

If you own any iPhone 12/13 model, no need to upgrade, unless you want a bigger model like the Max.
If you like your older iPhone, then consider a battery replacement, if battery life is short.
If your older iPhone have physical issues, like broken glass or whatever, then it could be time to upgrade.
To each their own.

Going from an XR to 13 mini. Last small phone, last phone with SIM slot (USA anyway LOL), same 5G bands as the 14, and I hate the blue color shade in the 14. At least they brought back silver for the Pro.

I looked into buying from Canada which still has a SIM slot but it's missing some 5G bands for the USA.

eBay/used prices are sliding back to $500 which is where I want to be for a phone upgrade. Now to wait a few weeks...

I preordered a 512GB Deep Purple Pro Max to replace my 12 Pro Max. I have a delivery date of 9/16, and already switched my sim to eSim this morning. My S8 Ultra is on track to be delivered on 9/23. I am so ready for the next 2 Friday’s.

Can someone please TL;DR upgrade path for iPhone 11 owners and 2nd Gen SE owners. Given that iPhone 14 isn’t a huge improvement over 13, does buying a used 13 (or even new) make more sense?
That extra ram in 14 will definitely help you if you intend to keep your phone for at least 4 years.

ah yeah, a buyer's guide based on speculations. I recon, why buy the 13 or 14, heck skip until we reach 20. I heard the 20 will have killer features and way worth the wait. Considering the price jump between 16 and 17 will be very steep it only makes sense to upgrade when the 20 hits the market. Save up, until then. /s
I heard, the 20 will be a modest update from the 19 - which in turn will essentially be a massive camera hump with a smaller, 10inch screen attached. You‘ll need both hands and one foot to use it and the images out of the 5-lens camera (ultra wide, mega wide, wide, slightly wide and marginally zoomed in) will look just not quite as good as a similar priced but smaller Sony Alpha VII. But, hey, no more dynamic island. Also, to back up the 512gb entry model, the free icloud drive tier will be doubled to 10gb.

It is odd this is on the home page right now as something new... :)

They’re small but fairly significant changes. Better cameras, more RAM, better battery life. Yeah they didn’t get Dynamic Island, a CPU upgrade, or AoD, but at this point it would be a better buy to go with 14. The 2GB RAM increase alone is worth spending more for longevity.
