New iPhone 14 Pro, running iOS 16.0.1 seems to have an issue with the microphone sensitivity being set too low. The same issue happening with another iPhone 14 Pro 16.0.1 owner as well (seems to be a hardware/software function of the iPhone 14 Pro??). When making a call in CarPlay the person on the other end is unable to hear me well. Marked difference from previous phone (iPhone 12 Pro) with iOS 16 before upgrading to iPhone 14 Pro and definitely a pretty major problem, cannot make effective CarPlay phone calls.

Anyone else having this issue?

I am running into the same issue too. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 16.0.1 and it is very hard for others to hear me when I’m on CarPlay. This is a new issue that arose after getting the new phone.

Yes. And to date I haven’t found a solution.

My wife picked up her iPhone 14 promax yesterday and as she was driving, I called her to talk with her about something. I could hardly hear her voice on the phone call while she was using CarPlay. I had my iPhone 12 promax with CarPlay and she could hear me just fine. I then proceeded to tell her she’s not very tech savvy and it’s frustrating that she can’t figure simple things out like how to connect her car to her phone.

I then went and picked up my 14 promax from a different Apple Store connected it to my car via CarPlay made a phone call only to find out the person on the other end could hardly hear me. Looks like I might owe my wife a small apology. 😬

Apple, can you please get these things right and stop causing marital issues!

Same issue with a 14 Pro Max. This is with wireless CarPlay, not sure how it works wired. I’m able to easily switch to a Bluetooth call and the microphone volume works as it should. So definitely a CarPlay call problem.

Same here with a 22 Honda Civic and iPhone 14 Pro. Everything works fine using Siri and if I am just talking on the phone using Bluetooth without CarPlay, but when using the phone with CarPlay, the person on the other line says it sounds like I’m barely whispering.

Same here just noticed it when my wife called me from her car using CarPlay on her new iPhone 14 Pro with iOS 16.0.1. Probably a good time to submit feedback to Apple here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

Same here! BASIC, fundamental glitches that shouldn't have slipped through to the GM release.
Yeah. I have purchased a new iPhone every year since 2007 (please don’t remind me how rich I would be if I just bought stock) - edit : I’m a nerd and family members get my gently used hand me downs when I upgrade. This year we had so
Many issues with the new iPhone 14 Pro I literally told my wife I’m not sure if I will do launch day device ever again. Hopefully it’s not the hardware and just a really poor iOS release year but like you say - this seems like a basic function test that should have occurred. Doesn’t give me much hope for any supposed Apple Car. 😔

I can coincidentally confirm that I was able to reproduce this issue with an iPhone 14 Pro + iOS 16.0.1 + 2022 Honda Civic. I have published a front page MacRumors story and reached out to Apple.

Not just Apple Carplay, it had low mic volume even on external mic connected through USB, I am a vlogger and when I connected boya mic from USB almost 60% less mic volume as compared to 14 pro max.
Rest seems to working fine, only usb isssue for mic.I have made a detailed video for this on my channel Techy Naseeb
Thanks Techy Naseeb

has someone got the opportunity to test this bug with 16.1 beta2?
Yeah, I'd be interested in the results here.

I suspect the microphone is not being engaged by CarPlay in the car hardware and is utilizing the phone microphone still. I've noticed when I pick up the phone closer to me the person on the receiving end of the call hears me better. Anyone with that same experience?
