I did an iCloud restore.
I've only just upgraded to 16.0.1 so will test in the car tomorrow morning to see if problem persists.
Problem still persists with 16.0.2 on my 14 Pro Max...
(Apols, I meant to say 16.0.2 in my previous post)
Husband has exactly the same setup. He has an Audi A1, I have an Audi Q2.

Could this have anything to do with restoring from backup? If you reset and did a clean install would it fix it? Has anyone tried this?

The problem is in 16.1 Beta 3 for me. I am having loads of crashes with the latest Beta. PodCast crashing, Google Maps and then Head Unit CarPlay crashes. I have to replay the Ford Sync system to get it back up.

So I had the same problem where other callers could barely hear me. I talked to Apple support and they informed me that it was either 3rd party apps like Google Maps or wifi calling that was causing the problem. So I started using Apple Maps and disabled wifi calling and now callers can hear me fine. Not sure which was causing the problem but has been working fine since.

Glad that worked for you. For my wife and I that’s not the issue. Obviously we aren’t using Wi-Fi calling in the car while using CarPlay and in our case we were not using third party apps when we have the issues. Obviously some kind of weird issue with the 14’s, CarPlay and iOS 16 that did not affect our 13’s. Hopefully they get it sorted soon.

Ya, I wasn't using wifi calling either but it was enabled on my phone, I'ld just double check that its not enabled in settings, but who knows, never had an issue with Android Auto. You would think with Apple these kind of things would just work...

Wi Fi calling is the first thing I turned off, no different for me.

I had the microphone issue for a long time. I'm on iPhone 12 Pro. It used to be good when I got the phone but audio went bad after 6 months of my car purchase.

Not for me, though. iPhine 14 Pro, iOS 16.0.2
I’m at the Apple Store now (Sydney)

iPhone 14 pro max
iOS 16.0.2 still impacted.

I will update this message shortly following my appointment

Update:
Wipe software and clean install then setup as a new iPhone. I connected to my car and issues still presents.

Now restoring from backup
Apple are asking everyone impacted to report the fault here:

Update 2:

As many people as possible please call your local Apple support as there is a known issue with the engineering team. The more faults = faster they work

Thanks for the update, I sent them an online chat and they told me they are aware of the problem and working on a/the solution. I think it would be addressed in 16.1 or if they decide to do 16.0.3.

I also reported on the link and told everyone I know with a 14 to do the same.

Great, I’m thinking 16.0.3 as it’s being classified as major incident

A temporary fix for me (while waiting for the fix) is turning off apple car play completely and using the cars default bluetooth handsfree / phone system... it works fine as long as calls are not via apple car play
