Haven't been keeping up with many rumors lately, but very curious if USB-C will make the phone thicker.

I agree that removing the physical sim is more of a downgrade than a feature.
Do you use a physical SIM? Would you rather have that space available to shrink the size, increase the battery size and/or improve the IP rating?

Everything is about trade offs, and the ones Apple mix tend to be ones that I like. USP existed for a long time before Apple adopted it for the iMac, but it never really worked until then. No one had any incentive to adopt it, because they could always just use the old PS2 connectors. This was a big win for everybody, but it only happened because Apple adopted it and remove the ADB Cable as an option.

The problem is, though, that so far they haven't actually done anything with that available space except insert a plastic spacer to fill it. I agree that it makes sense for Apple to move on from physical SIM cards, but when are we going to see any physical benefit to the phone from doing so? The last I heard, the 15's were going to include the plastic spacer as well.

Hi Tim! Have a seat over there.

I will be shocked if they sell the iPhone 15 pro for $1199. I mean this is an outrage. There is no practical reason a phone should cost more than a computer. People will start waking up and they will revolt!!!!!!!

Are you with me?!
Nope, not only that, fewer people than you think would choose to vote with their wallet.
This is the true power of Apple: massage Customer base to such extent that a very healthy base will give Apple all their hard earned cash regardless.

No practical reason? Exept when your brand sells the most “premium” phone and “lesser” brands start selling their phones for more, you have to raise prices. Image if the nicest Chevy started selling their most expensive car for more than the most expensive Bentely. Bentley would have to raise there prices, even if they didn’t upgrade anything.

I use my iPhone as my main camera now. Although I have a corporate iPhone 14 Plus, my beloved personal iPhone 11 Pro Max recently died a horrible death(shattered back & front screen) so I will definitely be upgrading to the 15 Pro Max next week. I know some are saying this is just a basic update…but to me, it’s HUGE.

I would think that all these new features require more power. How’s the battery life?
I got sucked into buying the Ultra Apple Watch and battery is about two days without running or doing much on it. SMH!

The editor forgot the main new “feature” on their list: a higher price.

Sad to see that the regular Pro likely won’t be getting any real camera improvements barring some significant software change (better processing?).
Higher price rumor isn't a feature. The article states just below the list of features that there is a rumor of higher prices.

Looking at the list this way it doesn’t really seem like they’re doing much. Especially if you want the smaller Pro phone, and even more so if you just want a regular iPhone. Also I thought that most of the recent rumors pointed to only 6GB RAM? I hope not. I keep having problems with some sites crashing a lot on my iPhone 14 Pro but they don’t on my iPad Pro with more RAM.

Anyone think we’ll finally get faster and/or higher resolution slow motion video? It has been ages since they’ve upgraded that. Surely the A17 can record 4K 120fps. And 1080p 480fps would be useful. I bet they add some other new software camera features. What I really want is an upgrade to Live Photo frame rate and longer duration. Or at least a setting for it.

Such a bummer… No SIM card tray, no buy. I guess I’ll have to either wait until I can buy them overseas or start officially looking for alternative. E-SIM is great but all the countries I work in are contract only for E-SIM. I just retuned from working for two months in the Philippine. My wife couldn‘t use her unlocked “US“ iPhone 14… No SIM Tray. Really messing with our company phones.

This analogy makes no sense as neither example would require a price increase for the "premium" brand. I'll answer your question as to what would happen if Chevy and Bentley had a price overlap. Chevy would sell far fewer cars and Bentley would sell far more. If Bentley is doing their job then they already have the price set to maximize profits. Charging more than that ideal price point would hurt their profits regardless of what the competition is charging.

I'm in the EU and when I get my 15 pro max I'll have to replace all the lightning cables and chargers I've collected over the years and which serve me well. At home, at work, in the car and when travelling. Which would have served me well until Apple and the ecosystem get rid of wired connection altogether (which I only really need for wired carplay btw. no massive videos or anything). So from a personal perspective it's hardly a big win environmentally or financially speaking.

Then a back of an envelope calculation. My guess is that given Apple has a notoriously high customer satisfaction AND iPhone market share is not growing at a huge rate => the majority of people buying new iPhones will be existing Apple customers and NOT switchers. By the same token not a huge number of people are switching to Android.

QED the majority of purchasers will have an experience similar to mine and be having to replace perfectly good cables.

So yeah, I concur with the cynical tone.

(Fair disclosure I actually live in Brussels, have daily experience of the EU thing and observe time and time again how well-meaning bureaucrats tamper naively with complex systems to produce unintended results.)

Not really interested in an iPhone 12S Pro. I just can’t bring myself to spent 1,5k+ Euro on the same iOS that is also running the exact same way and perfectly fine on my 12 PM. Maybe I got wiser with age 😅

I hope 16 Pro will repeat the curved frame of the XS Max. Still the most comfortable iPhone to hold without a case in my opinion or Samsung finally comes to its senses and releases a Fold with a wider outside screen next year
