I wish these case manufacturers would make alternate cases that completely covers up the CC side of the case. Cutout or no cutout option. Please and thank you.

Sincerely,
Every iPhone user that never uses that useless button
While I certainly understand this sentiment, there’s a decent probability that most, if not all, of the buttons on the iPhone 17 Pro will be capacitive. If that comes to pass, let’s hope these case companies up their button game by then.

I’ve grown accustomed to using the button to launch the camera at any moment (I even set another launch shortcut on the lock screen to replace the camera) and I use it as a shutter button as well but I must admit I prefer using the screen to do adjustments vs the gestures on the button.

That’s similar to how I use it. I suspect as more functionality gets added, particularly related to the upcoming “Visual Intelligence”, more people will end up using it and even depending upon it.

No. Give me a phone without a button. Gives me MBP touchbar vibes and that was dead after a few years. Junk.
We can only hope. But, in my opinion the more likely scenario is a full set of capacitive buttons: existing camera control, a new combined volume/action button, and possibly even a capacitive side/power button. This would reduce the number of buttons from 5 down to 3.

How is the UAG Monarch this year? I have an itch for a heavy duty case to go along with my slimmer options.

I use it all the time as there's always something I want to photograph on our daily dog walk. A quick double click when taking out of the pocket so I can immediately point and take a pic straight away. I use swipes on the button to change zoom, I love how it auto locks on the next zoom level with a swipe but deft strokes for incremental, gradual zooming in/out. Also love the relatively new half press to lock exposure and focus.

Visual Intelligence feature is amazing too. So quick to hold the button and then take a pic for a Google search or ChatGPT description. Had a bit of fun with it and haven't had to use practically yet, but knowing I can quickly translate literature or take a pic of an object to find out where to buy one, etc. is great.

You are missing out if you don't use the button, it just takes a few days of perseverance to get the muscle memory and once you are used to it I'm positive you'll prefer it.

The silicone surround also makes swiping harder. Overall poor solution, especially for a premium priced case.

Anything close to a full coverage Otterbox Commuter yet? I don’t like large unprotected cutouts. The Apple Silicone I’ve been using needs more of a lip around the screen.
