It’s seems to be the finish, not the thread count. The traditional black/gray models in both brands aren’t just darker but also have a smoother finish, similar to last year’s Pitaka Pro if you had that case. That smooth finish is extremely bad for showing fingerprints. It’s about like the aramid backs on the Mous and Phone Rebel.
The “tactile” models (essentially any of those with colored patterns), which can be 1500, 1000, 600, or even some combination there of, all show fewer fingerprints. I believe the textured surface is the key - that’s my understanding anyway.

Someone here said the Pitaka didn’t have any lay on the table protection. Based on the pictures, it looks like the 4 corners have raised lips. Are the pictures deceiving?
With no screen protector the Pitakas have just the very slightest raised corners. With any screen protector, including even the Belkin UG2 at .29mm, there is no lip. With the Pitakas I’ve developed the habit of laying the phone on its back; with the screen facing down it skates around like a hockey puck… lol. The equivalent Benks models have better screen protection with more clearly raised corners.
Thank you! I have no screen protector, so I guess I would have a slight lip. The Sunset just looks so good, I would rather go the Pitaka route.
There is no way to go back to classic bulky and heavy cases after trying 21 grams Pitaka cases in latest generation for 16 iPhone series. Next step, if you don't want to go caseless, is Arc Pulse (currently 15% discount for BF.) 😄.
I like them but they don’t offer enough protection for my liking.
They’re definitely not for everyone. I think it depends upon one’s lifestyle and propensity to drop their phone. Some might also prefer to be able to toss the phone around and not think about it, which I totally get. Personally, I’m a prime candidate for a few reasons: one, I’m retired; two, in many years of owning iPhones I can count the number of times I’ve dropped a phone on one hand; and finally, I’m on the iUP so damaging the phone would be no more than a minor expense and inconvenience.

Lord, please help meThe problem is that a lot of these cases look slippery. I like grippy cases. Dbrand's Ghost 2.0 looks very interesting. However, their site doesn't seem to advertise that they have a camera button. Hopefully, if it does, it won't be using copper rods and something similar to a printed circuit board. Do you know? I'll send them an email!
The Ghost looks really good. Just did a preorder for one. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page it does clearly highlight a Camera Control button on the case. This could be one of the best cases of 16 series.
From my phone, it wasn't apparent until I selected the 16. The 16 wasn't the default option when I clicked on the link. I'm sort of surprised that despite coming out in January, the camera button uses only copper rods! That's unfortunate! What's the grippiest case at the moment?
What does copper rods matter? As long as we have all the functions for the CC, it really is no big deal at all.
Supcase uses copper rods and the button is not great. Clicking is fine, but swiping is janky compared to the buttons with a printed circuit board (Apple, Otterbox, Spigen). Hopefully the dBrand button is better.

All Spigen cases with a camera button use a printed circuit board? I thought Apple used some sort of sapphire crystal.
The Apple/Otterbox/Spigen buttons are multi-layered. The circuit board is one layer, the crystal (or glass) is another, and so on.
I have the Grip case with the button and I feel it works a little better than Supcase. I wish I could do a video on it but they want me to hold off.
