May do the same...

Lineup maybe:

Pitaka Edge - Daily Driver
Apple TW - Traveling (en route) * I have the crossbody strap and when traveling it has proven invaluable
Caudabe Paragon? - A little more rugged when out and about? (Unfortunately Azurite is out until mid month)
Sounds like a plan. I was gonna get the Moonstone. Since I have doubts about the back being too slick though figured that isn’t a good idea. It being open would make it even more slippery, the precise cutout gives it extra grip. Went Midnight with silver buttons for my silver 17 Pro.

Don’t get me wrong, the Paragon is a nice case—it was one of my favorites last year—and I’d have one if they gave a hoot about the Air, which apparently they don’t. The Rebel is up there too though, despite their less attractive marketing materials and packaging (I couldn’t care less about fancy boxes). It’s only one data point, but I’ve had more quality control issues with Caudabe than Rebel over the past few years…
What are some things I should look out for to make sure mine checks out ok?

The usual things: alignment of the cutouts around the ports and lenses; buttons that are responsive but not rattly; even spacing around the perimeter of the screen; an even screen lip above the screen; smooth mold lines; tight fit; no warping generally or at the MagSafe magnets; no scuffs or scrapes straight out of the box; etc, etc.

The Black Moft has been my daily for the last month. This easily will be my final case for the next 6 months until I upgrade.

I'm happy with my purchase, but my goodness I can see why people hate on these. Where do I even begin?

The phone plopped into the case very easily, which makes one think it must pop out easily as well! Luckily it doesn't. It's secure in there. For the case nerds in here, you already know that UAG's solution to the camera button was to just cut a rectangular hole in the frame lol. You know what's really great about that? The ring around the screen has a lot of flex there! My fingers are not fat by any means, and even then I'm pushing on that to push the camera button lol. It's... a weird choice.

There's also a gap between the plateau and the frame surrounding it. The frame does its job fine. I could see this allowing a fair bit of dust in there. But the way the side buttons are made, I imagine dust would get in there as well.

Also, unlike my lonli edition case, this one doesn't like up with the flolab protector I'm using, so I can totally see dust accumulating between it and the case. Sadness.

Now that I've told you everything I don't really like, let me tell you what I DO like!

First: The looks. I like the hexagon-shaped magsafe ring. That was love at first sight. I love how it conveniently hides the apple logo too. One of my biggest pet peeves with a lot of the other 17 pro see-through cases is the way they make that weird horse shoe shape so the apple logo is unobstructed. If I want people to see the apple logo that badly I'll buy an apple case. I think making the apple logo visible is really tacky (gouche?). I was a little bit concerned about how the blue/grey would look with the orange shining through, but I'm actually quite happy with it! (It looks better in person). Sadly, this color variant doesn't have the glow in the dark magsafe ring! I wish it did....

I actually really like the material it's made out of, too. The plastic is not rubberized and not soft touch. Some people would say that "feels cheap" but I think it feels honest. There's no mold lines (unlike a Caudbe case!) and no jagged edges. I think it actually feels terrific in the hand. As mentioned, there's a little flex around the camera button and if you pull on the top side of the plateau surround? It's not enough to bother me.

I love the included lanyard, it matches the case perfectly and looks cute and feels thick and nice.. and the lanyard holes feel quite durable, too.

The hole alignment is decent, too. No issues plugging my anker usb-c cables into the phone. The buttons work fine, for buttons that are molded and not ACTUALLY SEPARATE lol.

The magsafe magnet works great for me. It's just strong enough, but not obnoxiously strong.

I do wish the dang thing was cheaper though! Like maybe half the price.

And yeaaaaa this definitely isn't for the person who wants a professional sleek case with aluminum buttons and the best leather-like feel. This is a "fun" case.

Agree. Love the Pathfinder.

I used to be a huge UAG fan and purchased many of their cases every year. Haven’t purchased a single case from them in over 2 years. If they are too lazy to add in the CC button, I’m too lazy to purchase any more of their cases.

Same here. Their quality has also declined in other ways—the last one I had was loose as a goose. And don’t get me started on the slit buttons…

Not sure if it’s my example or representative of the case but the Dbrand Tank is easily the worst case I have tried by a mile.

I wanted to like the design but have the following issues-
1) The camera and flash/lidar cutouts are completely warped, like clearly more oval than circular.
2) the buttons are atrocious. The power/sleep button activates by barely touching it. Meanwhile the camera control is worse than the early 16 pro camera control attempts.
I haven’t seen buttons this bad since the early 15/16 cases that added the action and camera control buttons.
3) just about impossible to get off, may be worse than the paragon.

They have created a revision to the camera control and buttons that may address those issues, but my case did not have the updated cc. Given the other problems and how good other, much cheaper cases have become, I am not sure I’d give this one another shot.

For me it’s the best case I’ve bought, and I’ve bought many!

Mine is the revised version, buttons are excellent, camera control is super responsive, grip is all you could ever want and it fits perfectly including the cut outs.

I get that some have issues, but based on my own experience I won’t be buying any new cases now, finally I’m happy!

Can you see the frame of the phone at the front of the case?

Two beautiful cases arrived today.
1) The Flolab in Stealth Black Clear that I ordered about three weeks ago, which is just a joy to hold.

It’s a fingerprint magnet, for sure. But easy to clean again. And grippier than the frosted version. Love it.
Damn that black looks clean af, does it feel like it will scratch easily though? And is it much grippier than the frosted?
