Mostly thanks to @Hooterville , I picked up a Nomad Rugged for the 17PM. I really enjoyed this case the past few seasons, and this one is nice too. Quality construction and materials, great buttons, minimal fingerprints, good grip (enough, but not too much), and decent fit. And they finally got rid of the goofy dual lanyard slots at the bottom of the case that everyone complained about for years. The level of protection seems decent, but the lip is fairly shallow, the top edge above the plateau is pretty flimsy, and the overall fit is not as secure as it could be for this type of case, which makes me wonder about face down drops. I’ll keep it, but I do prefer the Beats Rugged and will probably be switching back by the time you read this. 😊

I've been in the Nomad rugged for about a week now and I really like this case. Sorry you're not that thrilled with it 🙁
I'm ready to swap out cases soon myself. Waiting for my orange open Paragon to arrive any day now.

Oh, no worries! It’s a great case, I like it a lot. I do wish they’d used a poly core along the top edge for additional stiffness, but there are only a handful of cases that have that feature. Other than that it’s extremely well made. The buttons may be the best I’ve encountered.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your Paragon. 👍🏼

I changed my mind on the rugged wasn't sure about the big lip around the back? The Beats does look good, if only could get it here other than Apple.

Is Amazon still refunding to gift card within 2-4 hours after dropping off item anymore?
Looks like they still want to make me wait until after they received the returned item for refund ☹️

Amazon seems to be cracking down on returns, emphasizing the policy language on its site, and taking full advantage of the terms it allows.

A defective item I sent back two weeks ago and was received a few days later is still "processing" at their return depot. Credit was originally due yesterday, but has been pushed out another week.

They're now actually vetting at least some returns, and it's not a speedy process.

Retailers keep score, and the criteria is opaque, but those metrics can result in warnings if not outright bans, not to mention shadow bans.

The stupid thing is that the item I sent back was a replacement order, after the original vanished into a black hole at their local depot, which consumed days and they probably would not have acknowledged if I hadn't contacted them, so the purchase was cursed from the start.

It might be time to become wary of leaning on their return policy, amidst the slacking of the company in general.

Once companies become too big to have to care, they often do stop caring, and Amazon is no different.

Well to be honest always boggled my mind how ez Amazon returns are.

Just wondering if this will be the same for everyone going forward or only serial returners?

Yeah, same. This and also their policy of „oh we accidentally sent you two of that item you ordered? Feel free to send it back if you want, or keep it or gift it away. 🤷🏻‍♀️“ which is why my husband and I have the same Mous iPods case 😂

Here in Germany they have changed the return policy insofar that now only the unpackaged returns are free. Meaning you bring the item in its original box/bag (without wrapping or packing it) to a parcel locker/pickup station and DHL picks it up and packs it for you. Which I HATE because I see how people stuff their shirts and jeans and whatever they order into the parcel locker and the poor postal workers have to pack the stuff for them. If you want to pack your return yourself like in the Amazon bag or package it came in, you have to pay extra 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anecdotally, some are saying warnings from Amazon are triggered at around 20% of returns versus purchases. In general, it seems they’re cracking down and adhering more strictly to their written policies. I guess it makes sense that if a customer ends up costing them money due to the expense of processing returns, shipping, etc., they will eventually put a stop to it.

I recently returned nearly $1K worth of photo gear and I’m currently holding my breath to see how they respond. So far it’s looking like the returns will be processed, but the biggest ticket item is going to take longer. Fingers crossed.

I have been able to return with no problems and usually get notified about my credit shortly after it was scanned.

However I notice that with Apple products haven’t worked like that. Definitely takes longer and says will receive credit once we receive at warehouse.

Yeah the AS was one of first cases I bought for the 17P and it started flaking after only two weeks of very careful usage. And previous versions also fell apart after a while. Never falling for that again.
Dang it. Just got the Bright Guava watchband today and now I want the case to go along with it 😂 Such a fun, eye pleasing color. But I will resist and instead just put the pink buttons on the Tank 😂

I'd expect it to eventually apply to everyone.

The rate of receiving returned items as new is getting out of hand, and Amazon hasn't shown itself to be nuanced when reacting to issues that it helped create itself by ignoring them. Such as the purge of brands that engaged in review buying and manipulation a few years ago.
