A giant leap in camera performance along with Fuji quality presets (nobody has matched Fuji so far, let's see what the new 16 Pro Photographic Styles are like). Beat what Huawei and the other Chinese flagships are doing with their Leica/Hasselblad/Zeiss partnerships. Those partnerships are not marketing gimmicks like I first thought, the results are real.

Huawei and Xiaomi's 2024 flagships are the first smartphones I've ever seen that break out of the "computational photography" look which I'm so sick of. Stop over sharpening, over HDRing, and messing up the white balance on everything for the love of God -- it completely kills the microcontrast and colors that make photos look wonderfully 3D and realistic.

Basically, I would smash the buy button as soon as iPhone photos no longer look like iPhone photos.

A foldable version that doesn’t break easily or cost a fortune 😂. No but seriously one that folds open like a mini tablet, like the Samsung fold I think it is. But knowing Apple it’ll be priced at 3499
Behind getting rid of any hindering of my display (ie Dynamic Island), a foldable tablet iPhone is what I want most. I am needing to use the largest font on my iPhone and I want bigger for when I want to play around or read. I want one device for everything. I don’t want an ecosystem. I don’t wear the Apple Watch, and I wish my iPad ran MacOS and folded up so I could use it as a phone also. One device for all. In the future, it will be eyeglasses, then will be contacts, then will be laser on our eyes, then will be a neural chip, and then we will just have a brain and use mechanical robotic bodies for everything. Maybe like the movie Surrogates or maybe truly our brain uploaded to a computer, or we just are capable of storing our physical selves in another way… that’s the future. For right now, remove the “island” and then make it fold!

A thinner profile for the main chassis down to iPad Pro levels.
A Pixel 9-style camera bar so it balances on a table.
Said bar contains a variable aperture f1.8-4 mechanical telephoto (not fixed zoom) camera that goes from 18-160mm.

A new complete direction as the current iphone is too ¨packed to the brim¨.

Start with a ultra slim slab of screen that one can attach when needed:
- Apple made controllers - similar to switch
- Apple made camera system with no dimensions bounds
- A "car thing" module for home media centre
- An Apple Watch that has only sensors + a big ass battery that last a week

- The slab should be S/M/L
- One can update only the module that he/she needs

I mean, chatter around the web, every YouTube comment, every discussion board, all of it. Like overwhelmingly all of it has described this years release as ”boring” to put it lightly.

And I’m saying that as someone who clearly has no issue with it. Looks great, great device. But come on, unless you live on a mountain and never go on the internet you have to see that it’s been panned.
That is a very small segment of opinions though, the wider audience is the general public who will be very happy with it and don't read tech reviews and message boards etc.

I haven't gotten the impression its been panned from anything I have read or seen either.

I think what we will see in the 17 we just got a taste of in the 16. Capacitive touch buttons(new camera button) leading to much better water resistance. Maybe they will advertise that you can use the phone under water.

Maybe I should start a YouTube channel and say it's not boring. My opinion would be a valid as anyone else's. I'm coming from a iPhone 13 Pro and it has more than a dozen great upgrades.

The larger screen (maybe not exciting but nice), dynamic island, lighter weight (relative to my 13 Pro), Apple Intelligence (once it releases), brighter screen, dimmer screen in low light, always on screen (which I'll likely turn off, but it will be good to have it as an option), better processor, camera control button/area, better camera with a 5x zoom (major reason for my upgrading), recording 4k at 120 fps, better microphones with wind noise reduction, crash detection, WiFi 7, 5 hour longer battery life, messages/SOS via satellite (there are times I'm well out of good cell range so it's comforting to have that as an option).

If that's boring, I'm looking forward to more boring.

macOS in a DeX-mode.
This is something only Apple can do well. A complete desktop experience when plugging the iPhone to a display. Not really sure what Samsung and Google are using, but I assume it’s not even close. Some kind of crippled solution compared to macOS.
