I find it funny that people want in-display fingerprint readers in place of FaceID. Coming back to iPhone from Android, where my previous phone had an in display reader (which worked fine), FaceID is honestly one of the absolute best things about the iPhone, and I never want to lose it. I simply don't have to think about unlocking the phone. I swipe up, I'm in. Period. If my hands were wet, or overly sweaty, or any number of things, the fingerprint reader suddenly became finicky, etc. Face ID just works.
Did I write IN PLACE?

Let's see Face ID and the selfie camera recede below the display. Most likely that will take multiple iterations to achieve fully.

Let's see some progress in the world of charging. Solar receptors under the display and back glass that continuously trickle charge the battery from ambient light. This could extend battery life dramatically depending on lighting conditions, and maybe one day remove the need for charging altogether if used correctly.

But really, the next step for iPhone is the next major wearable iPhone accessory. Apple Watch and AirPods were huge for iPhone. Apple Glasses need to happen.

A better camera sensor - appreciate “psychics” etc but Samsung tried a Variable Aperture with the S9+ - would be great to see Apple try it and see how it turns out…

Dude, Apple Vision integration would be awesome now that you mention it.

As far as I know, iPhones can't even FaceID unlock if you have the visor on. But imagine they being in sync and having better integration.

Like, extending the display, or extending apps, I don't know. Surely, Apple has plenty of ideas.

Think about what Apple Watch does for iPhone. Now think about a pair of glasses with similar goals. You don't need to look at your phone, or your watch, when things can just appear in your field of view. You don't need to pull out your phone to take a quick picture when you can just look at the subject and do a hand gesture. When designed with the same goals as the original Apple Watch ...to make things most accessible than using your iPhone, rather than Vision Pro's goal of total immersion, there is a lot of potential for quick, easy, non-intrusive experiences that become second nature.

1) Much lighter! No more than 200g (for the larger phones)
2) Same battery life as current Max lines, if not better
3) Much thinner, as today’s phones all look like bricks.

A built in projector since the hologram phone seems a way off still.

I’d like to be able to watch YouTube on a 70” screen on my wall, while using the phone screen for something else. Think multi-tasking, you can read through MacRumors with the phone on a stand, with a game/movie/tv show playing on the wall next to you.

There’s so much Apple could do since smartphones are in their infancy.
