IPhone 3G and 3GS coming to Orange UK

Orange UK has just announced the IPhone 3G and 3GS will be coming to Orange UK later this year.

This is great news, as I am with Orange and have wanted an IPhone for a while.

It certainly looks good. I have been waiting for the 3GS but holding back because of the price and the tariffs. Perhaps now with a little competition the tariffs will fall.

@Macjames: the ad seems to imply the 3GS....

Well it is both. It says it in the press release from Orange

Read the link above, it's definitely both models.

I'm happy there is going to be a choice of operators, with a bit of luck the extra competition can give us some better value packages.

was with them for 10+ years and they just don't give a hoot about you.. only care about new customers...

personally, I've been quite happy with O2 (save the 3GS handset pricing)

Plus with the recent t-mobile/orange merger, orange will benefit from t-mobiles awesome 3g signal.

I used to have a Nokia N95 on t-mobile 2 years ago and constantly had 3.5g speeds living in Edinburgh.

But their customer service definitely has to improve!! Wonder if they'll be allowed to subsidise the handset more than O2 has?

Then if you go to Orange you will have to redefine the word "terrible". I had to sue them last time to get them to stop trying to charge me after I left them.

Still, as much as I would thoroughly suggest that nobody touches Orange with a ten foot pole, hopefully competition will hugely push down the cost of a 3GS.

Orange's 3G network is also much better than O2's according to Ofcom research.

I was with T-Mobile in Edinburgh until August and their signal's still awesome. I didn't realise they'd merged though?

Anyway, I'm excited. Hopefully Orange'll have enough freedom to do something about the insane handset prices and dodgy contracts. (STILL £350 for a payg 3G over a year later) It's kind of depressing when friends ask me about my phone but hardly anybody can afford one/I think the prices are a rip off

While I had a huge disaster with 3. I prefer O2 to the others. It all depends. General rule is they're all a bunch of shysters.

UK mobile phone operators would welcome consolidation in the sector said lawyer Chris Watson, of CMS McKenna, adding firms saw the current levels of competition as "ruinous" because of how low they had to keep prices to win customers.

Hmm, "ruinous" indeed . My one sort of worry about that merger is that Orange is fairly expensive for the sort of contract I take out whereas T-Mobile gives the most at the cheapest price and has better coverage in Edinburgh

On the other hand that newspaper advert is epic I do wish they'd open it up to everyone though, especially if T-Mobile and Orange get to be come one company.
