Please pay attention to this recommendation. You will DEFINITELY see a speed increase if you "reset all settings". Do NOT "erase all content and settings" however or everything will be erased from your phone.

Resetting the settings will make things MUCH snappier and you really don't lose much. I had to go back and change a few phone settings afterward, but all of my mail accounts, contacts, calendars, notes, music, applications, etc were still there. My applications were re-ordered in alphabetical order though if I recall correctly. Not a huge deal though. My 3.01 3G iPhone was much more responsive afterward. Highly recommended if your phone is running slow.

That's brilliant! :D Amazing Speed increase all of a sudden! Thanks man. :)
However, I wonder how long I'll go before speed begins to deteriorate again :(, actually I'd rather not think about that; yet

You should really be thanking TheSpaz:

Yes...it wasn't my idea. Nor did I try to take credit for it. I remembered reading it ahwile back but had no idea where. The tip has worked very well for me and I'm glad it's working for others. Just passing the info along.

Of course. :) Perhaps he could have sent that link earlier? :D

It's not as if I keep a collection of links sitting around for every tip I've ever read on various forums :)

You don't have to give me credit for any of this. Just pass the information along and I won't be offended. Thanks.

I never touch a 3G anymore, so I have no idea how much faster it is. Dont care really.

I wasn't saying you were trying to take credit for what TheSpaz did. I was just pointing it out so he gets credit for when credit is due,

and whether he wants the credit or not. :)

He's gotten a lot of bashing on this site. So, it just seemed like the right thing to do.

Oh, and you should keep a collection of links...it's called subscribing. There are some really good threads on here, which I pull up all the time to help people, if I remember having them.

Good idea. I don't know that I've ever subscribed to a thread unless I was auto-subscribed as a result of posting something.

I always restore when there's a software update. I use Google Sync for my contacts/calendar, but it's easy to sync with your local computer. Music is obviously always on iTunes along with the apps. The only inconvenience is that it takes time if you have a lot of music (15GB for me) and you have to set up bookmarks and rearrange the icons. I know you can sync with Safari bookmarks, but I like to have different bookmarks. Hopefully Apple will provide a solution in the future.

With that said, I just got a 3GS and it is noticeably faster. I wouldn't call the 3G slow though (assuming you restore or follow the simpler tips posted above).
