if you already purchased the black one don't be silly and pay restocking fees to get the white one...

I personally love the white one more but if I had purchased the black one, I'll stick to it and not pay restocking fees to AT&T. Instead of paying 10% restocking fees, just buy bodyguardz ($25) and get the front and back of your phone covered and protected from fingerprints.

However, if you are still considering to get the iPhone 3G, I would strongly advise to get the white one :)
voila!!

i have white, and thus far love it. no remorse here. I think it looks gorgeous.

I'm debating putting a case on it though. I love it so much naked, but i'm afraid of all the wear and tear and possibly covering. I tried a kinda clunky rubber casing which was meant for the original iphone (it actually fit perfectly) but it just get awkward, excessively large, and slightly obscured the buttons due the thickness of the material...

what kind of case do you guys recommend and is it a good idea to get one at all?

Instead of using rubber case or whatnot, Just get your phone covered up with front and back film protector and use a sleeve case like Sena Ultra Slim :)
When you want to use it, you have to take it out and it will still look pretty while offering a great and beautiful protection while you're not using it

I'm keeping my 16GB Black, but having second thoughts on the 16GB White for the War Department, because of the cracks and wear and tear of the demos at the Apple Stores/AT&T Stores. They do look snappy, but Gawd, what are they doing to those demos???

We'll I went for the White for the following reasons.
1. Fingerprints not too apparent.
2. Scratches not too apparent.
3. White shows you got the most expensive one
4. Headphones, Dock, and rest of the accessories are White
5. White reflects light its doesn't absorb it, so I wouldn't feel my ear so hot in the sunlight while talking on the phone....(LOL that's so stupid but I felt like saying it)
7. White isn't discriminated as much. (because of the scratches)
8. White is sexy and matches with my White macbook. MMMM sexy.

I've got a Black 16 GB myself, and my brother's got the white one. It is true that you hardly notice finger prints on the white one, especially comparing it to the black one.
They both look very sleek to me, although I'm still happy I got the black one. So if you are really bothered by smudges on the back of your phone, and don't really care about restocking fee or the extra money you'll have to pay for a 16 GB iPhone. Then you might want to consider trading it in.
You shouldn't worry about the white iPhone not looking cool though. ^__^

Basically if you use a case for your iPhone then get the white
If you like to keep your iPhone naked, keep the black

i believe they think because it is black it will show less wear/ get less dirty. However from what friends with whites hae told me, the phone doesnt show scratches or dirt while running naked. go figure.

I upgraded from an original iPhone on Wednesday and bought a Black 8GB iPhone 3G. I have yet to apply the Bestskinsever.com skin to it, or put my Crystal Film Set on it yet, which I had been planning on doing tonight. I am currently keeping it in a corduroy sack/case. But I noticed how many fingerprints and smudges are on the back of it, and I'm not sure that will get any better with the skin.

1. Does anyone have a BSE or other skin on a Black iPhone? If so, how does it do with fingerprints now that the skin is on?

2. How does the white compare? I have not seen one in person and am considering paying the restocking fee to get the white if it will hold up better. Especially with the skin on.

3. How does the white look with metal buttons? The black looks quite sharp, just worried that the white doesn't contrast the chrome buttons enough.

Love to hear your opinions.

I have the black, my wife has the white. I really think they are both great looking and it's just a matter of personal preference. You can't go wrong with either.

I was thinking about white but will probably get black because I want to put an invisible skin on it and they go a bit yellow after a while which would be very apparent on the white iPhone.

I switched from the 8gb Black to the 16gb White and have been VERY happy I did. I just like the look better.

White is Right

lol...

I've owned the black iPhone (never the white) and I HATE the smudges!

I read someone else said they're OCD and I am too!

I had the black macbook and it smudged like crazy and got wicked filthy...I'd have to clean it daily with iKlear!

I also owned the iPhone 2G and they should've kept the aluminum as an option because it's the best one! I loved my iPhone 2G I wish I would've never traded it in for the 3G....(won't go into it here)

I now have a Storm and it also has a steel look to it.

I am considering going back to the iPhone though but will definately consider buying the white one this time.

Why switching back? Well the apple phone is just much more compatible with my macbook...no pc here and sync sucks without iPhone
:)

I wouldn't pay the difference in price between 8 GB and 16 GB just to change the colour. Black's sleek.

I use a case for mine, which is a black, evil looking case, so color doesn't really matter.

I have white as well and have never noticed the smudges. Actually, I just looked and there are no smudges on the back of my iPhone :D

White. Never notice the smudges, at least not at the back of it.

has been my experience as well. you're like me lol , wanting to pay a restocking fee to swap colors to kill smudges haha :p i would swap to white, but mainly because its 16 GB.
