Just a matter of preference

I have had both a Black 3G and now have a White 3G S...for the record let it be known that BOTH will show cracks in the same places: near the headphone jack, at the bottom near sync plug, and near the volume control and silent switch..and no I am not a "Phone dropper" the cracks just seem to appear over time with subtle stress..now in comparison my White 3G S looks waaayyy better than my Black 3G did after the same time had lapsed..scratches are harder to see on the White iPhone and fingerprints are extremely difficult to see on it. The White version just seems brighter and when I whip it out it's immediately evident that I have an iPhone

I've always stuck with black just because I didn't wanna risk getting big cracks and it showing so clearly on white or the yellowing problem I've heard. So I've just stuck with black with the 3G & 3GS.

The yellowing problem

The solution to the "yellowing" effect is to wipe your iPhone down with rubbing alcohol...I had a black silcone case that left a black mark on the backside of my phone I assume this occured while the phone was hot...I couldn't get it off no matter how hard I tried..I eventually wiped it off with an alcohol wipe and all blemishes were removed

When I was due my upgrade I changed from black to white and love it. The white one is really smart and you don't see many around!

.... and you don't see many around!

and that's exactly why i bought it :p when i see someone with an iPhone , its a black one. While the white one is nicer, i think.

I remember seeing some piece of evidence ( i believe on macrumors ) from a bestbuy store that would get red iPhones?

That never made it.
