Guys i am not trying to be a moderator, but using foul language is against the forum rules. Please don't screw this thread. Any more violations and you put the thread on the risk of being closed.

That's true, and we factored this in. With eBay sellers there is no comeback if something goes wrong. We are an Oxford based business. Furthermore I have contacted MacRumors to offer forum members an exclusive £50 discount, but am yet to hear back.

That would make us cheaper than eBay!

However, I cannot implement this, or sell to anyone on the forum (or I guess tell you the name of the website?) without prior permission.

If you knock down the £50 you will lead the market. You will be the cheapest in the whole UK. Up to now handtec is the cheapest (£713). The only issue, will be what guarantees you offer in your website to insure the safety of the customer. i.e. as you are a new supplier, this will be your weakest point.

Oh come on...that's a bit too hypocrite isn't? There has not been much of a foul language on this thread. If you follow other threads the language is much more harsh in there than here.

We only accept payment from verified paypal addresses and google checkout (for UK customers only). There is also an option for Oxford pick-up (no discount for this).

Unfortunately, at the moment, this is only speculation since I haven't heard back from MacRumors about this offer, and therefore do not have the authority to advertise my site... So frustrating.

The only way the offer will work is with MacRumors cooperation. The idea was PMs would be sent to verify customers are MacRumors members. I can't afford to sell all my stock at that low price.

I have not seen anything since i joint the thread. I haven't checked the previous posts. The reason i highlighted the violations is because in a space of 1-2 days, one person was trying to sell his iphone (one violation), second time was the language. See, as i said i am not trying to be a moderator but i have seen it before, where people fight in a thread and lead the thread to closure. I was only trying to advice (100% good intention)...I really don't see the hypocrisy from my side!!

Edit: Sorry, i misread the first part. Yeah i agree, in some other threads this happened. but many of them have been closed (i was in one, actually just recently)

Hmmm shipping a 32gb 3GS from Hong Kong via DHL comes to £543 including insurance... I am so tempted!

Now if I can use my credit card to buy it and deliver it to my friends, then she can just post it for me :D

Hey man. I agree, i think you should start considering other options, just in case. However, if i were you, i wouldn't cancel now (i would wait at least to next week). Remember, if you buy from HK, you will struggle with repair when you need it in the future.

Send it via regular HK mail. Makes it less likely you have to pay VAT :)

I fly back and forth to hong kong a fair bit so it's not really a problem for me, I will wait another week anyway just to see what handtec say but if they start messing me about I will cancel and go with the hong kong route.

Is that safe? lol

I get product samples sent to me using it. So far i've always been quite impressed! It's quite fast actually.
It just comes down to whether you want to take that risk or not, and I would suggest not ;) btw, import VAT is paid on the shipping cost also, not just the value of the goods themselves.

That's look like a reasonable strategy. Looks like next week will be very interesting

several times on this thread people have been getting very confused with the UK tax system. VAT is a set 15% at the moment (Value added tax). However there is then an import duty which changes on each product and is classified by customs. It is important that you import an item under the correct tarriff and classification code otherwise you could get customs chasing you for tax evasion.

Once again import duty and tax are 2 different taxes. Therefore on an imported iPhone that you are buying from somewhere such as Handtec, you would be paying for both of these taxes on the product. HTH

Welcome to the thread...join the handtec party. No, none of us has been told that his order is high priority. It looks like they promised everybody to send the phone within 2 weeks. That is not very promising at all sigh :(. I hope you get your iphone soon and please keep us posted with any updates.

There is no import duty payable on mobile phones, and for goods imported from outside the EU you pay 15% VAT on combined total of:

- product value
- shipping
- import duty (a % of total value of product value & shipping)

You concentrated on my comment about paying VAT on the shipping of a mobile phone import from Hong Kong as being incorrect. I am correct. There is no import duty and therefore the VAT is directly related to the true value of the shipping.

With respect to orders bought from Handtec who get their phones from within the EU, there is no import duty and no import VAT.

I guess i'm not very confused after all. Phew ;)

I am from Hong Kong :D. PM me if you need my help. I just placed my order for 32GB white and it's on the way here. But, it looks like Apple is getting too many orders. When I placed mine, shipping was within 24 hours and now is 5-7 days.

That's not too long to wait let us know if you get your iphone as well.

Sorry for kind of hijacking this thread I think everyone is looking at places or ways to get an unlocked phone from any country so the goal is the same.

Well, I guess we'd better hope that no one uses any foul language then. If this is a reference to my earlier post then I think you'll find it hard to characterise that as "foul language". Abusive, possibly, if it is taken out of context, but certainly not foul.

I do apologise, but there is no need to get inflammatory. I simply put in an order with a supplier. You are also able to put in orders. Furthermore, when I went to get my phone at a Mobistar store on the 19th at 10.30AM, in an outskirt of Brussels, there was neither a large queue nor had they sold out - granted by the afternoon Brussels was sold out.

I think part of the problem here is that Apple have made a right mess of the situation in Belgium. You cannot buy directly from them and their web site only tells customers that you can only buy from Mobistar; there isn't anything that says that you can also buy from Resellers. I tried putting in an order with Mobistar and was told that there was no stock available (story of the past few weeks now). It was only after I found this thread that I discovered that the Resellers were also selling them, by which time they'd all sold out.

I wouldn't mind what you were doing if stock was plentiful in Belgium. Heck, I did the same thing a few years back with Nintendo Wiis when you couldn't buy them in the UK but there was tons of stock on the continent. As it stands, however, the things here are like gold dust and no doubt you're selling them for a healthy profit so I am sure you can understand why I have got the hump.

Ordered as a precaution a 32gb 3GS from the Apple store in HK to my friends address in HK

Found this website which calculates the duty http://www.dutycalculator.com/ and it comes to with shipping about £620 with insurance.

Just a shame it wont be delivered into HK until 21-23rd of July then the additional time of 2 days to send it to the UK.

If handtec keep making excuses then I will cancel my order with them and just wait longer!
