That's true, and we factored this in. With eBay sellers there is no comeback if something goes wrong. We are an Oxford based business. Furthermore I have contacted MacRumors to offer forum members an exclusive £50 discount, but am yet to hear back.
That would make us cheaper than eBay!
However, I cannot implement this, or sell to anyone on the forum (or I guess tell you the name of the website?) without prior permission.

If you knock down the £50 you will lead the market. You will be the cheapest in the whole UK. Up to now handtec is the cheapest (£713). The only issue, will be what guarantees you offer in your website to insure the safety of the customer. i.e. as you are a new supplier, this will be your weakest point.
Oh come on...that's a bit too hypocrite isn't? There has not been much of a foul language on this thread. If you follow other threads the language is much more harsh in there than here.
Hmmm shipping a 32gb 3GS from Hong Kong via DHL comes to £543 including insurance... I am so tempted!
Now if I can use my credit card to buy it and deliver it to my friends, then she can just post it for me![]()

Send it via regular HK mail. Makes it less likely you have to pay VAT![]()
Is that safe? lol
I fly back and forth to hong kong a fair bit so it's not really a problem for me, I will wait another week anyway just to see what handtec say but if they start messing me about I will cancel and go with the hong kong route.
I get product samples sent to me using it. So far i've always been quite impressed! It's quite fast actually.
It just comes down to whether you want to take that risk or not, and I would suggest notbtw, import VAT is paid on the shipping cost also, not just the value of the goods themselves.
Guys i am in the fight with you
handtec.co.uk

several times on this thread people have been getting very confused with the UK tax system. VAT is a set 15% at the moment (Value added tax). However there is then an import duty which changes on each product and is classified by customs. It is important that you import an item under the correct tarriff and classification code otherwise you could get customs chasing you for tax evasion.
Once again import duty and tax are 2 different taxes. Therefore on an imported iPhone that you are buying from somewhere such as Handtec, you would be paying for both of these taxes on the product. HTH
That's look like a reasonable strategy. Looks like next week will be very interesting![]()

I do apologise, but there is no need to get inflammatory. I simply put in an order with a supplier. You are also able to put in orders. Furthermore, when I went to get my phone at a Mobistar store on the 19th at 10.30AM, in an outskirt of Brussels, there was neither a large queue nor had they sold out - granted by the afternoon Brussels was sold out.
