As soon as you used Amazing and Kings of Leon in the same sentence, i stopped reading. They are the worst "band" this entire generation, with their typical guitar riffs and unthoughtful lyrics.

hey man, for your latest excursion in blackberryland. There are a few free apps worth looking into. but the one I use the most is called weathereye. you can download it for free from the appworld.

It's neat because the icon represents the current weather of your location and it shows you the temp w/o having to open the app.

I had an 8800 for 18 months and I hate the way Blackberry does sms, the iPhone wins hands down on that. The LED would be a welcome addition to the iPhone though.

I'm a college student and been debating about getting the Blackberry Bold or the iPhone 3Gs. I have been an avid Blackberry user for the past two years and it won't be that bad to try something new. Since I got my MacBook Pro with the free iTouch, got me thinking about the iPhone. But then again, having the iTouch already just makes the Bold alot more tempting. Messaging is my main concern about the Bold and the iPhone. The layout of the Blackberry is what I'm used to seeing, but the iPhone has the whole conversation.

But my main question is which would be a better phone for a student: Bold or iPhone? (minus all the apps, customized ringtones, and battery life)

I would glady appreciate any feedback that you guys can give me :D

both are the same price with the iphone winning on features. maybe someone can correct me, but i don't think the Bold even supports 3G

To tell you the truth I want both, but I'm a post-grad so I think a BB would come in handy more for the better email support. I currently just have an iPhone and would never be able to give it up because of all the great apps for it.

I think you ultimately have to make a decision, but I think there's a simple guideline that might help you decide. What do you use your phone for? If your answer is EVERYTHING, especially web browsing, trying out all types of new apps, etc then your answer is iPhone. If you're mainly using it for texting/email and wouldn't mind a few cool apps but it's not a huge deal for you then get the Bold.

Exaggerate much?

There's so much horrific music out there jostling for attention, Kings of Leon would have to be bad on an epic level to even get past the qualifier round.

How do you get anything approaching stereo sound when the speakers are separated by about 2 inches (assuming you don't mean "whoa it's crap")?

The speakers sound much fuller than the crappy speaker I have on my iPhone.

Not a whole day, not half day... in about 2 hours... lol

Something is wrong with your iphone. Either it's jailbroken and you're running 8 apps at once, or it's got a bad battery. My battery lasts the whole day EASILY, unless I'm on it constantly. It's not as good as the battery on my bb, but 2 hours is waaaay low.

The Iphone and Blackberry are for two different markets and for two different types of users...

Agreed. IMO getting a bb for personal use is like getting a pickup truck as your personal vehicle and then never filling up the bed or hauling heavy loads. Yes it still works, but you're not playing to its strengths (which for the bb are central administration, security, BES, etc.). Moreover, you're sacrificing the strengths of the alternatives you're passing on.

Looking forward to your updates. This is the kind of experience that screams how we smartphone users all have core needs/wants.

The Bold speakers are better than the iPhones. The speakerphone on the Bold is LOUD.

And an iPhone is better for college students. You can definitely take advantage of all the Apps offered in the App Store that relate to school.

Trust- iStudiez Pro and Flashcards has helped me out A LOT in college!

Text messages are treated like emails and can be managed in a single inbox or in separate mailboxes.

This seems like a negative to me. Treating text messages like an instant message is one of the greatest things about the iPhone.

Yes, we should definitely promote iStudiez Pro! Best college class organizer and assignments tracker. I think, as me being a college student, I would benefit more from an iPhone versus the Bold, which kind of explains my bias towards the iPhone. I have used the Bold and it is an excellent machine for productivity and getting things done with email and texts. But, it is just so much easier to do things for me on an iPhone.

The question is really not a BB vs. iPhone in your case. Sounds like either work. But will AT&T suffice? Meaning, does it get coverage, and is it reliable in your area? if AT&T didn't work in my area, I'd have a BB with T-Mo, or Verizon because they're the only others that do work where I live. But if AT&T is solid, it's a no brainer...iPhone in terms of use, apps, etc.

His keyword is can. You can also have an sms icon and email icon, separately OR have all messages treated as one whole thing in general.

Minus everything? Looks like you're either going for which one looks more aesthetically pleasing or for RF quality since they are both on the same network. RF quality and voice will go to Bold as clear winner since Blackberries are known for good sounds during calls. iPhone is more of the touchscreen type and ease of use.

Basically, your main concern from your statements are touchscreen vs. no touchscreen

On a side note, looks like me and nfl are doing the answering for college students now. Thanks! And ask any other questions you might have!

But is each message shown in it's own window (ie, there is a list of messages, and you have to select each one individually to read it)? Or can you show them threaded so all messages to/from a person are in a single window?

Oh I see what you're asking. Sorry about that. No, each message has it's own window. The only time when the messages are threaded are in blackberry messenger, unless someone corrects me.
