Flashlight 4 (TM) was the one I have been waiting for and works great. Also a really nice UI and starts up quickly. Although apparently its still using the Camera API so no audio :/

Hopefully there will be an update.

Best ones I've tried so far are from xyster.net

I tried light-o-matic - turns off the music. Cramzy's app also had some bugs.

Oh and one more - LED iLight claims to work with music. It doesn't. Don't buy until update comes out.

Has one come out yet? I didn't see any in the app store. The flash would work quite well as a light actually. Currently you would have to go to the canera app, flick to movie mode, click the flash icon, then click the on switch. An app the gets it down to one click (or no clicks) would be awesome.

There is a app on the app store, It's called LED Torch Flashlight it is a free app. All you do is open the app, looks like a flashlight, click the on button on the flash light and it turns the back light on. So, this seems like the best option for a free flashlight app. I like this app the best.

Best advanced flashlight - Flashmaster - $.99 xyster.net

Wow, xyster.net looks to be the best so far. Let's see if there are any others as good.

Too bad it kills music.

I have tried a bunch of them and my two favorites are:

LED Light for iPhone 4 - $.99 - Jason Ting
LED-Torch

They both allow your music to continue and start up quickly. The big difference is the strobe on LED Light for iPhone 4. Both are quality.

Do any of these apps use the camera's flash for the light as apposed to the video's light (which isn't as bright)?

Thank you! I submitted an update with strobe light support! (in LED-Torch) and I made the startup even faster (I think it's the fastest LED Flashlight app to launch). So there won't be this big difference anymore. As Steve says.... stay tuned :D

Sadly...I am very very depressed at what I am seeing so far after viewing 20+ new LED Flashlights.

GUI's SUCK...Graphics are cheap, minimal and look terrible.

Descriptions are despicable and very brief and do not say a whole lot of anything.

ALL Developers rushed out the simplistic of LED lights and didnt even try to implement a gimmick...the most complete that is available adds Strobe and SoS function and THAT IS IT!!!

NOT ONE DEVELOPER takes advantage of the new Retina Display...Why not include the original various colors of screen lights for the 3GS users??? Why not include using the Retina display for the various strobes screens, party lights and party type images??? Why not use the high intensity screen for a good old fashion Zippo to show off the Retina display at concerts??? All of those things that the old fashioned flashlights that were the number one apps should be included with these CHEAP, not thought out, quick buck apps.

So far...NO ONE GETS MY MONEY!!! I will continue to use the beta apps in hopes that one of them goes the extra mile and does something to make a multi functioning proper light/flashlight/LED App

So dissappointing:(:(:(

I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY OF THE NEW LED FLASHLIGHTS AT THIS TIME!

In fairness, it's kind of hard to write more than a sentence about what a flashlight app does :)

Hmmm...some of them are able to and do so here in these threads.

List all features
Does it allow music to play in back ground
Does it turn on automatically when the app is activated
Does it background
If the iPhone is put to sleep while the light is on, does it turn back on when the iphone is reactivated

Does it use the screen as an alternate light source
Strobe, Rave, Morse Code all using LED

Screen Functions use Retina Display technology to display brilliant graphics and lighting options!
Night Light
Party Light
Emergency Lights
Holiday Lights
Concert Lighter
Light Trace with Finger
Light Brite Funciton for the kids
Make a sign

OOOPS...Forgot my own idea: Emergency Button for Help at Night. Push button, dials 911, activates Strobe lights and emits loud noise. Confirmation to call 911 required so that it does not activate by accident.

Also forgot the: Disclaimer: Continued use of the flash/screen may dramatically decrease battery life.

How many with strobes have this disclaimer: For certain people with epilepsy, strobe lights can trigger seizures??? (Anyone smell lawsuit?)

God the list COULD go on and on but ooops...nope we only have LED, Strobe and Morse Code

Nice try though:rolleyes:

Power Light for iPhone 4 Released

Hi Everyone,

I'm happy to announce that Power Light is now available on the App Store and we've decided to make it completely FREE.

Download now from:
http://itunes.apple.com/app/power-light/id366871005

I hope you really enjoy Power Light as much as I have developing it and interacting with all of you guys during the development process.

We have some features that other Free Flashlight apps don't have including:
• Screen Light — sometimes it's nice to use your screen as a softer light for reading, etc. We prevent the screen lock from dimming the display.
• Auto-Off — Set a timer to turn off the flash light incase you accidentally leave it on. Great for saving battery life.
• We plan on adding more features to this FREE app.

We also have put a lot of work into the design. Here is our icon:

Am I the only one who thinks that the multitude of apps and the ensuing reviews and analysis of such apps is quite ridiculous for an app that does only one thing?

turn the LED light on and off?!

Just saw this post... I'm the developer of LED iLight. Version 1.0 did not support background music, but version 1.1 does, which has been available since July 8th. I was able to secure a a quick 1 day update with Apple to get that and a few other things addressed.

I submitted an update last tuesday that includes new graphics, as well as the strobe light.

Lite Light (FREE - iAd)

iLED Light Pro ($0.99)
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iled-light-pro/id380410547?mt=8

Both have a great interface and have this really cool auto dim feature. If you don't use the screen, it dims the screen to make it less distracting in dark places. It has preferences under iOS settings to change dim timer, auto lock enable, and LED Light controls for app start and resume. Both don't use the Camera API either, so music keeps on playing :D

There are some videos of it on YouTube (Lite Light):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMhmgnzT1sM

Here is a video of the settings feature:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFk2xcQ4Yi8

I am the developer for both of these, and I have been updating it every week since release. I thought the Auto Dim would be nice since I was using my app and realized the screen can be a little distracting when in a dark location.

I also worked on the interface to make it run smooth and flawlessly, I also took advantage of the Retina display to make everything look real crisp.

Feel free to PM if you have any ideas or recommendations, I am always open to suggestions. Also, I made sure that both of them have pretty much the same set of features, since I am a college student and I understand the value of a $1 ;)
