I don't like that design at all... being in the market for my first iPhone in a few months, I'd rather stick with the 3Gs -- much more elegant and simple. That interface feels 'windows'-y. Also, that circle around the apple logo looks bad -- makes the phone look cheap.

Doesn't get me excited. I'd buy one anyway if the insides were upgraded ex. Super AMOLED.

Apple would never:
- Draw a circle around the logo
- Change UI elements to older versions (clickwheel)
- Use those colors
- Make the start screen so cluttered

Except from that, the hardware seems fine ;)

It's not bad, but it certainly doesn't look like something Jonathan Ive would come up with.

wow. get rid of the ring round the :apple: make it as thin as possible and have it in only black or white and i'll buy that phone right now :) i love the design.

they should keep the current design as an option called the "iPhone Classic", but with new hardware/software of the upcoming iPhone. An a new designed iphone with all the new hardware/software. As much as I'm bored of the current design, its still a classic look :)

Pretty sure that's exactly what will happen. Highly doubt the new phone will replace the 3GS.

Yeah, once this new iPhone comes out, I can see them scrapping the current 3G 8GB model, and the current 16GB 3GS will be the new "base" model of the iPhone. Then, the 4G (or whatever they decide to call it) will come in 32 GB and 64 GB.

Steve would never approve this phone with a mSD slot.

Misleading thread topic is misleading.

BTW: AT&T would never approve it with a front-facing camera.

Somebody already posted this but it's just great.. I'm thinking on design not the specs

I'd defo buy that, nice looking phone and have reduced the back bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

I've though since they launched the iPhone that they should do a 'Mac' model for people who own an Apple computer (can only be synced with a mac), maybe just a slight change, red backing or soemthing simular.

Well I don't deny there are some very talented people out there generating these images! That is, they are very photo realistic. But not a single one looks anywhere close to something Apple would release. I mean, most of these mock-ups have removable batteries. Do people really think the next iPhone will have a removable battery? With the iPad and it's battery replacement program... what reason is there to think that a removable iPhone battery is even a remote possibility?

And what's the obsession with getting a new form factor? Are people that eager to spend money on replacing all their current accessories that would not fit the new iPhone were the form factor to change?

What I do think would be cool is if they found a way to make an aluminum shell that would not block the cel signal, and would keep the exact shape and size of the 3G and 3GS.

Ok. If I'm honest I'm annoyed that, when sitting on a table (and especially when in a case), it's almost impossible to tell the three models apart. Unless I'm wrong, Apple have built their business on making products that people want to be seen with. But the if the 4thG iPhone looks (pretty much) the same as the 1, 2 and 3rdG, I personally wouldn't want to spend another £850 unless people can immediately see that I have the latest and best.

I'm so fed-up with saying "No, this one is the 3GS".

How can you tell the difference between any Macs of the same form factor such as MP's, 15" MBP's, and 24" iMacs just by looking at them? Are you suggesting that Apple should change the form factor just to distinguish between upgraded internals? Seems like a waste of time and a waste of money on their part.

I have students that come up to me and ask if my phone is an "iTouch" or an iPhone. I think its an elegant design that can't be really improved upon without going totally wireless for charging, headsets, etc, and making the entire casing touch sensitive to eliminate buttons. Changing things like screen ratio or thickness at this point risks functionality and compatibility between existing applications and backward/forward compatibility in software.

I want one!!

Stumbled across this concept yesterday and was pretty impressed! I know i would buy it!

(all credit has to go to the designer!)

That's awful. They could have at least done something with the screen/huge bezel to make it look like a phone that's coming out this year.
