Tried it out on my 4S for a couple of days.. and it's slightly slower than 8.3. Very similar to 8.4 at times. Given it's only the first beta, I am optimistic.

Did you use it on 5s or 4s?

5s

I was just trying to highlight why some people experiencing sluggish performance on their 4s need not indicate that the 4s will be lacking performance wise, or that early reports of sluggish 4s performance should not dishearten 4s users - given my experience with ios 9 on the 5s was sluggish as well.

In other words, its more characteristic of the initial beta release than it is indicative of iOS 9 performance on the 4s and in general

its the same performance as ios 8.4 beta. sometimes a little faster but it can never match the speed or stability of ios 7.1.2. if ios 9 performs as well as ios 7, i would be extremely happy

I wished indeed also that it could be as quick as iOS 7.1.2 but i'm afraid that won't happen then.
I also wonder how 3rd party apps such as WhatsApp and others work on iOS9. I've seen that iOS8 was sooo much slower with WhatsApp then on iOS7.1.2. Especially to start the app/send a response to someone. That is why i left my iPhone 4s (now my moms) on 7.1.2.

I cant even imagine Ip4s running IOS 10 next year.Apple will not ditch the 4s next year ,, they will keep updating until the all 4s devices shut down or blow on a future IOS VERSION. the 4s will get IOS 10. I HEARD RUMORS ABOUT THAT

There was a video
I heard that the 4s is worse on IOS 9 than on IOS 8

Its not great when you do an upgrade, but apparently its surpassingly good on a clean install.

Remember also this is beta 1. It performs poorly on a lot of different devices.

It's cool that Apple is supporting the 4S with iOS 9, but between one of my speakers going out, having to jiggle the 30 pin connector to get it to charge, and now the power button not working anymore (I have to let it turn off on it's own), I'm probably going to get the 6S when it comes out.

That being said, I've had it since launch, and 4 years isn't bad at all for something you carry with you every day. I'll probably put it on iOS 9 and use it strictly for logging runs with RunKeeper when the time comes.

The 4s still has very good market share for a 4 year old product. I would even bet that iOS 10 will support it.

As long as it has somewhere around >10% market share then they will and should support it.

We'll see. I believe it has around 15 percent share. The iPad 2 has about 24ish percept of iPads + 22 percent iPad Mini 1 and 10 percent iPad 3. Fairly significant and hasn't gone down that much in the past year.
