So, you think this forum is the place where people should say only good things about Apple products? Like a religion or something?

Not at all. I don't like the iPhones current shape and size and I don't like how its so hard to get something simple like a custom ringtone on it. I have mentioned that. However, when every one of your last 40 or posts have been bashing Apple, iOS and calling the iPhone the worst phone on the market. Thats pretty much trolling.

Sure your entitled to your opinions... just like I am :)

You're the one trying to put people on the defensive for their opinions them trolls just because we are stating the facts that Android is inferior to the iPhone.

1- I was quoting to prove troll activity when he was falsely accusing another of being a troll.
2- Facts are only facts if they can be proven.
3- Statistics are a good barometer to compare devices, specifications of Android devices out in the market clearly are miles ahead of iOS.
Numerical proof that Android devices are NOT inferior to iPhone, if anything they are superior.

This is why Android has taken a lead over Apple in marketshare. This was at a local grocery store, I have been seeing them everywhere. The phones all ranged from $29-$79. No credit checks, no contracts and month to month.

In other words, those Android phones allow almost anyone to have a smartphone. That's fantastic!

Moreover, even the cheapest ones have multitasking, videocam, and twice the cpu speed and RAM of the original iPhones. They also usually have 3G and HSDPA.

In other words, if you thought the first iPhone was a good deal, then these phones are often even better... all while giving billions of third world citizens a chance to own something usually reserved for wealthier countries.

PS. Although it'd be nice, it'd be surprising if all of the phones in that photo had Android, especially any less than ~$69. Sometimes a naive viewer can get confused and think that every feature phone with icons must be running Android. Often not.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to feel better its all good. Specifications don't mean anything, if they did then an Android device would outsell the iPhone. This is what Android fans just never understand. The whole reason the iPhone outsells them all is the better user experience.

The only ones that would say Android is the better experience would be the tech nerds that drool over specs even though the whole experience still lags, doesn't get updates on time, has fragmentation, malware, etc

The disadvantages go on and on...

You could not be more wrong about that

iOS only has scrolling through different pages and even with Cydia tweaks ( some good animations here and there , iFile to mess with phone even more and thats it)

Very simplistic, not much adjustments, same interface all all devices. Android is a whole new beast with different pathways.
Specifications are the only arbitrary way to compare them since they involve concrete values rather than subjective opinions that range from user to user. I have a feeling you don't understand this concept.

Because this is looking at individual phones, not Android phones as a whole. When you combine every Android phone on Sprint and AT&T together, I am sure they sell more than the iPhone as its only one device.

Your thread title is "iPhone 4S outselling all Android phones combined" but you then say this is looking at individual phones and you're sure that Android phones combined are selling more than the iPhone...so which is it? You're not making your point very clear.

Thats nice you feel bad for us poor, poor iPhone users. Yes, the many millions of us have no other choice in cell phones but Apple LOL

This is why Android has taken a lead over Apple in marketshare. This was at a local grocery store, I have been seeing them everywhere. The phones all ranged from $29-$79. No credit checks, no contracts and month to month. The phones were all crap of course but people with bad credit who can't afford an iPhone or a data plan jump all over these. I won't be surprised to see these start turning up at 99 cent stores soon. Google doesn't care that they are licensing their OS out to complete garbage like this, they only care about pumping out as many Android handsets as possible. At least Apple has some dignity and standards

So are you saying that companies who don't only cater for rich people don't have dignity and standards? Apple is about the only company in the smartphone market that doesn't sell cheap, low end phones.

I use Android because I'm a power user and like to customise my device. I get updates quickly by installing custom roms. My phone has never lagged, with default firmware or custom ones. Battery has to be charged every night, like every smartphone I've ever owned. Malware is easily avoided with a little common sense, just like on a PC.

The downsides for me are that the app store gets better apps and they tend to be of a higher quality on iOS. There are exceptions to the rule (kindle, drop box) but most are better on iOS. I also like some of the icloud features and wish they were available on Android.

Both platforms have their advantages and I don't know why either side has die hard fans. To get the most as a consumer, I think you need to use or try multiple platforms.

I do see a lot of thumbs down here. This forum is full of Android die-hard fans or what?

Android forums are boring and these trolls are highly insecure about their purchases, so they feel the need to come to an iPhone forum and try to justify it by bashing the iPhone and iOS.

Android forums actually seem to focus on the products at hand more than bashing the competition (at least the one I go to; not saying it's the same everywhere). I can't see a single iPhone thread in the 50 threads on the main page of the site I go to.

Also, if someone felt highly insecure about a purchase they'd just take it back and buy something else. It's a mobile device not a life choice. :D

You're putting the smartphone on a pedestal a bit here.

Doesn't surprise me. The iPhone is made by Apple, an American company. Most products do better on their home soil.

Android is far more popular than iOS here in Europe.

Bah, and you call yourself English! The stink of the Euro ends at the Chunnel! J/k :D

By the way, doesn't the iphone sell better in the UK than Android?

Thank god :p we want £s!!!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/oct/31/android-uk-smartphone-growth

Even RIM had a higher market share than Apple in October of last year.

My understanding is that Android continues to grow here.

Thanks for the link mate. I knew that Android had sold more last year, but thought I had read recently that the 4s had changed things, with the 4s outselling all other phones in the UK? I could very well be wrong. Memory isn't what it used to be.

P.s. Had a friend of mine that lived in Lincoln. I lived in a little village called Brampton, south of Peterburough.

Errr... what? getting a custom ringtone on your iPhone is a difficult thing?

Maybe I am doing something wrong? I download it to my phone with an app, then I email it to myself, download the file, drag it to my desktop then drop it in iTunes and sync my phone. If there is a way to do it different I would love to know.

You run OSX or Windows?

I guess that's irrelevant. Just search for a ringtone maker in google for your OS. It allows you to make a custom ringtone out of any music file and import it into iTunes in as little as 20 seconds. I've been using iRinger, which I believe is Windows only.

Nah you're right. The 4S does outsell all other phones, just not all other phones collectively, which is what the OP was trying to imply.

iPhones have always been the top sellers when it comes to individual handsets.

Ahh cool :) I travel past Peterborough all the time. Not heard of Brampton but Lincolnshire is quite a large county so that doesn't surprise me! Small world :p

Did you even read the article?

“Our March checks indicated the iPhone continues to extend its market share gains,” Canaccord Genuity analyst Mike Walkley writes in a note to clients today. “In fact, we believe iPhones are outselling all other smartphones combined at Sprint and AT&T and selling at roughly equal volume to all Android smartphones at Verizon.”

No, I didn't. I just read your later reply:

You keep changing your mind. :p

I've now read the article and can see that the iPhone is selling more than all Android phones collectively on those networks. Apple deserves credit for that. :D
