I find more than a few flaws in the article itself. First it only reflects Sprint & AT&T, no Verizon I wonder why. Second it shows only a couple of models for Android when in fact each of the two carriers has more than two models to choose from. Lastly Android OS activations in US outpace iOS activations so I guess Android is doing something right.
Now from a device perspective their is plenty of bias for either side and frankly a lot of iPhone buyers get it for the fashion statement or money factor it projects, which is just fine. Yes a large number of buyers also buy it because its what they want.
I have the iP4S for many reasons and the screen size is NOT one of them. Its too small and kiddy like for my taste but I am living with it for now. I don't see LTE as a big enough jump to get the next iPhone and hope the rumors of a bigger screen (3.8-4.0" screen) do happen.
Anyone can parse the numbers to reflect whatever they want them to be.
I own a lot of Apple hardware, and will continue to do so, it doesn't mean I think Android or WP7 is crap, there is plenty of room for improvement just like there is for iOS.
