It's not about the OS so extra time wouldn't have made a difference. If you are telling us one needs to spend more then 5 days to learn a smartphone device and make a decision about keeping it then I don't know what to tell you? I must make fast decisions then.

Repeat: I learned what I had to learn.

This post is intended for a certain crowd, your'e not a person that presently has an iPhone considering to purchase a droid. Are you?

The only thing that's doubting this is the email support, which I've found to be poor both with yahoo and exchange. I'm currently trialing moxier mail which works well for Exchange but isn't an ideal solution, and will ultimately cost be money in the long run. I guess I took the email support with the iPhone for granted.

Not sure on yahoo, but what issues do you have with exchange?

A couple of points I'd like to add after my 3 days with the s3, coming from the iPhone 4s.
I had the first chance to test the screen in bright sunshine today (i live in the uk!) and to be honest it wasn't that bad. Ok so it wasn't the brightest but I had no trouble reading the screen and writing messages. In fact it was far better than I expected.
Secondly, battery life has been on par with my 4s so far, and that's without making any kind of effort to save battery, something I was very conscious of with the 4s. I've installed juice defender but haven't enabled it yet. I wanted to fully test the battery without it first.
It's looking more and more likely that I'll keep this phone and try to sell the iPhone. The only thing that's doubting this is the email support, which I've found to be poor both with yahoo and exchange. Try K9 mail. I run quite a few websites so have a variety of email addys and it works really well with plenty of options.

I doesnt bother me that you went back but yes, you needed to spend more time with it and someday you will agree with that.

There are so many things you didnt know about to help with your experience so no....you didnt learn the system because it probably would have made a difference. If 5 days was enough with you being confused and you giving up..then i dont know what to tell you. There were tips given in here but you had already gave up to try any.

Just a simple fact.

Yeah, this..also i dont use the Yahoo app, i just use the stock email with Yahoo. It works great for me and why i deleted the Yahoo app. I dont use exchange so i cant say.

Thanks for the advice, I tried k9 and that didn't work either!
With the stock email app I put all my details in and it did initially download all my data but then I repeatedly get the error message 'cannot connect to server'. I did Google the problem and found a lot of people with similar issues, could be to do with the security of exchange server?
Anyway I'm pretty happy with moxier, just wish there was a way for it to use the stock calendar app instead of using its own.

I always used k9 cause the stock HTC email app was so bad. But cut and paste doesn't work easily in k9. Much happier w the stock iOS email app.

Not at all, but I do get frustrated when you say a point isnt debateable when clearly it is. Have your settings set correctly will increase battery time. Use an app such as juice defender will increase battery.

I can go to eternity with this... Of course I played with the settings, even had their Battery Save Mode on, dimmed the screen to almost nothing when indoors, turned of GPS, Bluetooth, I even stood it up on its corner then clapped my hands while doing a jump and spin simultaneously because that activated the SuperDuper BAT Mode!

Are you kidding us with the app? Come on, you must know how that sounds?

Your right, this could go on forever!

Well I dont know what you did wrong or whether you had a faulty battery, but battery life out the box was great and doubled with the juice defender app.

Erm, not really, how does it sound? Didnt Apple once say theres an app for everything?!

Nice post!

I have a Nexus S but I'm switching to the iPhone when it arrives here (Brazil)

Nexus S was a very good phone but it's extreamly unreliable... Sometimes it is really fast and the others just keep crashing... I have an iPod touch 2G and sometimes I rather use it instead of my Nexus S due to polish of the OS.

Btw... You can bold/underline on mail, can't you? Just hold your finger on the word and that little pop-up will appear, then click on left arrow and it will show more options (on iOS6 you can attach img or video)
Have you tried a factory reset. What you are indicating is absolutely not normal for a nexus device. A normal factory reset will not delete your photos and documents. Just your apps and settings.

S3's screen does not cut the mustard for bright outdoor use, especially if you wear dark sunglasses. If you are outdoors a lot, or in a bright environment (high VLT for geek talk) the screen of the S3 WILL PRACTICALLY DISAPPEAR on you especially when comparing it to what we are use to. Although you may like that the colors of the S3 are more intense, this for me was a non issue because I do spend a considerable amount of time outdoors, I live at the beach!
If I wear my sunglasses, the iPhone screen disappears, too... unless I turn my head sideways to overcome the polarization effect. Same thing happens to the display on my car stereo and many other displays. Just want to point out that criticizing the screen while wearing sunglasses is unrealistic. I'm often amused at what is and isn't visible when wearing polarized sunglasses, and my friends know I'm entertaining myself when they see me tipping my head left and right, hahaha!

The iPhone screen is impressive in direct sunlight and naked eyes, though. I'm lucky, though... my Android cuts the mustard in daylight, even if not quite as clearly as the iPhone.

I own a pair of Maui Jim Aviator Polarized Sunglasses (MJ-210-17). The screen on my iPhone does not show any polarized effect when viewing the screen outside in broad daylight, not one bit. That's an easy test anyone can try out for themselves.

If you try it indoors you will most likely notice this polarized effect. This probably has something to do with the fact that these screens are tempered.

I still standby my original intention to return the favor to MacRumors readers that really need sound advice from this perspective. The only reason why I continue to post this because I'm off this weekend and I apparently have the time to do so, but this will change come tomorrow.

Stay Thirsty My Friends!

I'm seriously considering getting a Samsung Note II just for the large 5.5" display.
I hope I don't regret it.

Glad you're happy with Apple, and you were brave and open-minded enough to try something different, which is respectable.

You should have mentioned the expandable storage. The iPhone experience has been perfect for me except for the lack of the ability to use your own SD card for storage. Getting more iPhone storage means paying a lot more and having to switch phones entirely.

For anyone getting annoyed with file management, I suggest the Dropbox app. It can do a lot of neat things like opening ZIPs, playing loose media files, and saving email attachments to your Dropbox. This gives your iDevice some extra cloud storage that you can use on anything, unlike iOS's file management. And beyond that, I use iFile from Cydia and Terminal if I really want to get down to the system.

Good post OP. never hurts to try some things out.

I always get a kick out of people saying they switch (either side) and are never looking back. BS on that one, how many times have I heard that with various things over the years and one day the person is bored again with something. LOL.

android is new to a lot of people so it will need a few years to hit that mark where people get bored and try iOS or winMO till they get tired and the cycle continues. My limited time with android wasn't bad, just not 4 me but I would never say never, I just was meh on it when I tried it. Still wish webOS was the whored out one that had the market personally, I really thought it had potential

Whoever was concerned about the note 2 size just know you got a return window. It might work out for ya. Wear baggy pants : ) The one thing I wish apple did was offer a wider selection if iPhones. 4.5 would be a good screen size IMO

Today I tried the iPhone 5.

Good impressions except for the touch responsiveness "bug" due to the new screen technology. There was moments when I had to touch a button several times because it failed to recognize the input. I don't know if this can be fixed with software but I hope so.

This made the keyboard look like there was lag when typing.

The phone is extremely light. I'd say too light. The screen size was good. I liked that I could easily still use it with just one hand. Very nice.

The home button seems a little bit stronger. Not sure if this is because it's new or if they have changed something. Tried an iPhone 4 next to it and the home button is definitely worst.

I didn't like the aluminum back. Felt weird in the hand.

Overall I had a positive experience.

Am I the only one who was a little wierded out by "adorable Asian girlfriend"?

lol, that may have been a little too much info, I'll admit. I was trying to paint a picture

Apparently you are one or more of the following:

1: a troll
2: bored individual with nothing important to say
3: an a hole
4: dumb arse

I go with all of the above!
