I've seen that snapshot on my SE, and I have 74% of battery as well as battery saving mode, just like the snapshot, and I was shocked!!! Like OMG it is my phone! XD

Yes, that's a 4" display snapshot. Or maybe he has the System UI Zoomed. That way the resolution is the same like the 4" devices and everything looks bigger on the screen.

I'll keep reading, this is thrilling

Sounds like the service center swapped out your phone.

I also find it strange that the screenshot you posted is the resolution of an iPhone 5/5s/SE. If you had taken a screenshot of an iPhone 6/6s/7, the resolution would be different.

Dude even a kid would know difference between a 5s and 6s ...
If you know so much about phones, why did you bring it to an Apple service center to install an update?

Can you take a picture of the outside of the phone and post it here as well?

i took it to the service centre because it wasnt updating if i tried updating on the phone itself.
U can see the pics.. if u want i would upload a video on youtube if u dont believe me!!

Something is obviously wrong with your phone and you need to contact the service center and get it sorted out.
As i said earlier they would have replaced the phone. But the problem is i lost the bill of my phone.. without it they wont do it.

They need the receipt to replace the phone, but they would service it without? Is this an authorized Apple service partner? What do they say when you confront them with the fact that the IMEI was changed?

What is their explanation as to why the IMEI changed while they were repairing it?

The weird thing is that the model of the phone is for an iPhone 5s, the screenshots look like iPhone 5s resolution and from what you're saying, its operating as an iPhone 5s.

Where did you buy the phone? Is it possible it's an iPhone 5s in a knockoff iPhone 6 case?
Actually I'm guessing it wasn't directly from Apple or they wouldn't need the receipt, or at least they've never asked for mine as it's all on their system. So was it an authorised 3rd party?

Its not a knockoff cause i was using it before update as an iphone 6s.. if it were a knockoff then how could it act like 6s

I was just curious, I've never known any iOS device to suddenly start reporting itself as an entirely different piece of hardware, it should require a different logic board to do so, it's bizarre.

Out of curiosity, are/were you jailbroken?

This thread makes no sense... The only way that they phone could change serial number to a 5S 16 Gb Gold is if the hardware was changed. Also, why would you take a phone in to update it? We have had OTA updates for years.

If you took the phone in, take it back and complain. If they want a receipt, you should be able to show them the one they generated when they checked in your phone and you can prove that it now doesn't match.

I think at this point it's fair to say that nobody has ever seen this before, most are a little skeptical of what and how this happened, and no one knows how to correct this

Even a Google search doesn't bring up anything similar at all. If it's the wrong firmware, technically it should brick because it won't be compatible with the logic board.

We're only trying to help!!! The reason we're asking questions is because you have a device that shouldn't be able to exist. Even if someone somehow managed to get the wrong firmware onto the wrong iPhone it wouldn't make it report itself as a different model, it would just brick, it wouldn't work at all because the logic boards are entirely different.
And with the proliferation of these kinds of things it's pretty damn easy to make something look like an iPhone 6.

So, you said that your phone worked properly as an iPhone 6s, 3D Touch and all, before you took it wherever you took it to. Is it possible they swapped out your legitimate iPhone 6s for a fake or could you see it 100% of the time while you were there.
Because if you are entirely certain that the phone you have now is still your original iPhone 6s from before, then there's something very, very wrong with it beyond anything that anyone but Apple can rectify.

There is something very fishy with that phone. Not to do the whole "I can tell by the pixels" thing but that front panel looks wrong, both at the top of the phone and around the home button.
That's also what I was thinking of. There seems to be a much bigger gap between the earpiece and the display than on a genuine device.
Also the resolution looks like it's a 4 inch device as you can tell by the more cramped status bar.

OP, I'm not trying to tell you that you are stupid or anything like that but does your device have a 4.7 inch screen ? I mean is it bigger than a regular iPhone 5/5s/SE ?
It could be a modded 5s/SE in a third party iPhone 6s case, I've seen some really strange modded iPhones on YouTube.

I just try put your phone side by side with one of the iPhone 6s image from internet. It looks kind of identical. It is 4.7" to me which means it is not possible knock off version of iPhone 5s which is 4" but just your black border seems slightly ticker than Verge photo. (Unless really got people success put in the 5s hardware to 6s body include changing the LCD to 4.7")

This is very weird and I think not happen before.

The service center shall replace for you as it is their fault and during send for service they shall have generate receipt for you, that receipt shall be a proof your phone is not working as they suppose. You don't need to show the original receipt for this as this is not your fault but the service center. The service center need to fixed for you, if they can't they need to figure out the way (for example replacement).

I don't know exactly what's going on (outside of the strong possibility the casing has been changed out- custom, like I've seen offered on eBay).
I'd keep it! Unique iPhone in a sea of everything's the same.

That's 2 different looking phones.

There is very little distance between the home button and the bottom of the phone on the pic on the right. Much different from the one on the left.

Also, does Apple have a yellow battery icon?

The battery icon is yellow when Low Power Mode is in use.
