Hi everyone!
As an unhappy owner of an iPhone 6 plus I'm very interested of how iOS 9 performs on that particular device. Is there any stutter when navigating the home screen? Does the phone respring? How does safari perform (tab reloads, page crashes etc.)?
Please do not comment on the regular iPhone 6 or on any iPad. Let's keep this thread strictly about the 6 plus!:)

iOS 9 GM will work great on the 6 plus. As of now it's beta 1 so no one can honestly give you a definite answer. Maybe when open beta 1 is released. As of now this beta is for developers to simply start using the new APIs for their applications.

In my experience, iOS9b1 has been AWFUL on the iPhone 6+. I didn't do a clean install (then again, you shouldn't HAVE to) but it consistently runs hot to the touch, the battery last about half as long as it used it, there are a lot of jerky animations, and it crashes quite a bit. In fact, it's bad enough that I would downgrade in a second, if doing so wouldn't completely neuter my Apple Watch, which I stupidly installed the beta on as well.

Why are you unhappy with your 6 Plus? I was planning to buy the 6S Plus.

If you can do a custom search using iPhone 6 Plus and iOS 9 as the keywords in macrumor.com, you may see tones of complaints about battery in iPhone 6 Plus, which is also the issue I am encountering.

Despite that, I didn't see so may app crashes including safari, some other stock apps and third party apps, although geek bench ceases working, and my office 365 admin stops working as well.

Compare with new trackpad function and easier to read keyboard (shift key does what it should do, ha ha, while most pc keyboard cannot do what those virtual keyboard can do), I still force my iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 9 beta 1.

In my opinion, if you treat new functions heavier than stability, and don't mind regularly restart your phone or do software update, you can install. Otherwise, don't do this.

It was laggy at first and was running through the battery like crazy but on another thread we thought it was indexing, which can take a while to be done. Now it seems a little better after a couple of days. Battery life is still not that good but the animations are smoother. It's a beta, it's gonna be buggy.

Most people's complaints include tabs reloading after a very short amount of time, resprings and crashes. Probably due to the Plus's 1GB of RAM and the GPU being required to render things @3x and downscaling it to 1080p.

The 6S will probably be much better if it gains 2GB RAM and CPU/GPU upgrades.

Hey
As a previous iPhone 6 user and a current iPhone 6 Plus user, I can tell the only improvement in functionality is battery life.
This doesn't weigh up to its big downsides though. Opinions are personal ofcourse but its size is just too large. I find myself far too many times holding my phone because it doesn't feel right in your pocket. Then again I really watch out I don't drop the phone, which is so large what makes it slippery. Using your phone in public traffic or other situations you are onehanded, makes you feel very uncomfortable compared to the 6 model.
I also do have to mention I have enormous hands compared to most people.
A big software issue I noticed in iOS 8 and 9 is the fact when a notification banner pops up, you're not able to pull it down with reachability, what causes to hold the phone with both hands. That saying, on the iphone 6 I deactivated the reachability feature because I didn't need it (again: very large hands).
I also found myself concerning about my privacy, it's just very easy to take a peek.
I thought I 'upgraded' when switching between the phones, now it feels kind of like the opposite. My next phone will surely be the 6s.
Hope this answers your question

I was SO excited to try out iOS 9 beta 1, but so far it's been a disaster. My phone is running laggy (expected in a beta, I know), it's hot to the touch without the screen on and I haven't had much luck with the new Siri features either. The worst thing though is that I went from having 2-3 day battery life with moderate-heavy use to only about 8 hours (I had to rush home as I hit 1% and I barely used the phone today as I was at work). I know they'll fix these issues when the later betas or final versions come out, but for now I'm going back to 8.3. I highly recommend you guys just wait if you're on the fence, it's totally not there yet.

I couldn't have said it any better. Same situation. Can't rollback because my Apple Watch is on 2.0 beta.

Yeah.. Ip 6 plus is by far the greatest tech disappointment I have encountered so far...
Back to the question: no impact of metal on the animations?

To me, it is much faster and smoother in transitions. It is clearly not without it's bugs, but I really wouldn't want to go back to 8.3 just after the little while I've had 9. The battery life seems to be getting better, the first couple of days were brutal. There are resprings here and there, but nothing I can't wait for beta 2 for at this point. I can't quite put my finger on why I like 9 so much better, just seems way smoother.

Why? It's the best phone I've ever owned. Way better than any previous iPhone just because of screen and battery life alone.

That being said, don't install iOS 9 unless you want to have the 4S battery life.

My 6 Plus has crashed the least times out of any iPhone i've had. I've never had a respring it in the whole time i've had it (bought on launch day.)
I know my experience won't mirror everyones but i find it hard to believe anyones 6 Plus's are that bad.

iOS 9 isn't the greatest on the 6 Plus, but then again I wouldn't expect it to be as its the first beta. There is some lag on the home screen, battery life is total crap, but only a couple apps don't work so thats pretty good for a first beta.

I would downgrade to iOS 8.4 but I already upgraded my Watch to OS 2 B1 so it won't work with iOS 8. I'm just gonna ride it out until Sept. I know its gonna get better though.

Sorry guys, don't want to start a discussion about what opinion we have of the actual phone. Let's keep discussing iOS 9 and continue the reports of its performance. How about tab refresh?

The 'S' line always gets a huge SoC upgrade compared to the numeral release, so I'm holding out hope the A9 is gonna be earth shattering. I still think it might be the A8X just repackaged, which is fine, because then it has 2x the GPU cores, a third CPU core, and double the RAM.

Can't wait for Sept!

Same here. From now on I will stay on the S-cycle and NEVER buy a the first version of a new Apple product!:)

I'm not sure if mine has a hardware fault - I've been to the Genius Bar twice because my screen keeps becoming unresponsive but they say it's because backboardd is crashing which detects touch input among other things. I've tried a DFU restore but it hasn't helped, but they insist it's software. Compare the amount of Jetsam Events a 6 Plus creates versus a 5 or even a 6 and it's no surprise that lots of people have been having problems.

If they are right and it is software, the phone is hopelessly underpowered. I don't want octa-core processors and terabytes of RAM, I just want a phone which is easy to use and I don't have to lock and unlock constantly just so the touchscreen detects my touches.

I really am glad yours works fine as, when it does work, it's the best iPhone Apple have ever made. But those moments, for me and many others, are increasingly few and far between. I just hope this isn't another iPad 3 situation and iOS 9 improves performance.

I am using it on a 6 plus, and iPad Air 2. Have no issues either way. Battery could be better. And every once in a while I get some quirky issue. But it's actually pretty stable for a beta 1.

But if it is software, how is it underpowered? Underpowered would mean hardware. Software implies iOS9 could fix it, will it, who knows.

For me iOS 9 b1 so far has been the most stable and bug free release for the iPhone 6+. Gone are the hateful landscape bugs, and generally it's a much more pleasant user experience. And it's a beta 1. I honestly wanted to smash the iPhone since buying it. The thing that stopped me was the belief that Apple would fix a significant bug like that. It took them 9 months.
