Yep. Mine is. It just means our phones are already probably stateside so we won't see movement until it gets closer to Friday.
Just today. I have att. I would of ordered on Friday but I was undecided and wanted to make sure I can use a shared upgrade. Giving my iPhone 6s to my dad.

Got a shipping notification that my black leather case has shipped though the tracking number isn't live yet. Just waiting on the Apple Watch to ship at this point.
I am doing the opposite. Went from 6+ to 6s and missed the larger screen and battery. Going back to the + for my 7.
I got the same delivery date range as you for a Black 256GB iPhone 7 Plus on AT&T. However, I pre-ordered on September 9th and received a confirmation e-mail at 4:01 AM.
It's funny you and everyone else says this; I just got off a chat with an Apple rep who said that "Apple's ETAs for delivery are normally very accurate". I responded with "no one actually thinks that". lol.

I ordered another phone for my hubby on the att site for shipment this Friday. It was the 7 matte black with only 32gb.
The ppl packing my phone just lost it! They had it in their hands, and was in the process of putting a shipping label on it. They stopped to watch one NFL highlight on tv. And now aren't quite sure what they did with it. Anyone else in the same predicament??? 
This is what irritates me. I ordered mine on Friday. Got my confirmation email at 3:17 am est. Delivers 10/4-10/10 2016.

That sucks. Sorry. I was undecided, and I switched the type and color of phone three times. Hence my late order yesterday.
Of course they're not. If they were even 1 day late there would be riots. And Apple wants to keep customer satisfaction way up there.
So they quote 2/3 to 5 days more and then look like heroes when they arrive "early;" even though that was the true expected date.
I've done both. Went from a 6 to 6 plus, then from a 6S plus to a 6S. I regretted it after I downsized. Now I'm going back to the plus model and don't plan on downsizing ever again.
Why did you regret it?
Even with my six, I've said if I can get the iPhone 7 version of an SE I would probably get it.
Could you imagine a SE with the battery of a 7+ and 1080 screen? Ohh goodness!
I have an SE now and love it.. I have a 7 on the way for delivery on Friday and the thought of the bigger 7 makes me cringe a little.. There is NO WAY I'd ever consider something as ginormous as the plus... If I wanted a tablet stuck to my face, I'd buy an iPad mini.. LOL
