From the AT&T thread if this isn't already known:

"story time: I went into ATT store and asked if i could just grab a phone tomorrow morning and if theres a phone i want in stock and i could just cancel my order and pick one up... they said no because i have to cancel my preorder 24 hours prior. So thats a let down for a lot of people asking if they can do that on a whim

I called ATT customer care and they told me that what the store said is true...."

ya... that's kinda what's been said in past years... I know I've read this year that people planned to go to the store and cancel if they could get one... I wondered if something had changed!

I thought about doing that one year (forget which one) but then apple put us to PFS the day before release! I swore they did it just so we couldn't cancel and get one in the store! :p

iPhone 7plus black 256 - placed order at 2:38cst - Apple just charged my credit card. No status change on apple store as of yet, still processing. Apple store delivery date Sep27-29.

Just drove to the UPS office here downtown and did an early pick up for my 7 Plus! Good luck to everyone! We had fun tracking together! See ya!

Went from processing to PFS and charged my card. Either way if I get it tomorrow or not i'm still happy

A notification came in that the plane with my phone landed, while reading the thread on macrumors for people who are obsessively tracking their preorders. I think it's time to admit I have a problem.
