Pre-ordered the Jet Black iPhone 7 128gb at full price. What are the chances I can get a refund and opt into Apple's Upgrade Program?

Typically, I buy the phone at full price and sell the only one year-old phone on eBay. Generally, this results in me paying $300/yr for a new iPhone. However, with Apple's Upgrade Program I could get AppleCare and spend roughly $430/yr for a new iPhone. Sure, the result is the same year after year if I just bought AppleCare with the phone when I buy it at full price ($300 + $129 for AppleCare). But, the Upgrade program would save me the hassle of selling my old phone for the same result.
You can cancel your order if it's still processing and hasn't moved to preparing to ship

See that irks me. I mean no offense but I ordered about 5 minutes after I could get into the store, like 2:15am central time. Ordered the same phone and got Oct 4 - 10 date.

What I think it is is that the store went live at Midnight, but they turn it up by region. Some areas, lets say Hong Kong, might have had their store enabled first so they got a head start while other regions were in-line for site go-live.

That's not really necessary with a CDN. The app almost always is up ahead of the website so that's why most models had late shipping dates when the website opened.

As per Apple employee in Edison NJ sept 26 date is just them being careful due to production issues with the finish. It'll probably ship this week and if you got your order in from 3AM-310AM you'll have it launch day. Crossing fingers.

I think you are correct. The "Ships in 1 to 2 weeks" and the "Delivery in 3 weeks" doesn't seem to jive. I think Sept 26th is the day of or Monday Tuesday of the following week. If my phone shipped in one week, it would arrive at my door on the 16th assuming 2 day shipping and very little margin of error.

I am guessing low production numbers of the Jet Black due to manufacturing issues. The timeline was so tight that they are setting expectations since they have a sliver of wiggle room.

What happens if I am not in when they deliver my iPhone?
I assume I have to sign for it, so if I'm not there will I ever see it again?
Can I choose 'leave in a safe place' option?
:p

I ordered plain black 256 plus. It gave me 9-27 date at 3:15am eastern time

I did not post earlier but I pre-ordered my matte black iphone 7 plus 256gb a few minutes after the pre-ordering opened on Apple.com and it says "ships 6-8 business days", delivery for Sept 27-29.

This will be my first iPhone as well, I have been using a Macbook Pro for 5 years, but have kept my Nokia Lumia from 2012 till now.

The order status page allows you to pre-sign for the delivery once it has shipped.

Haha, you can pre-sign for it. Check your order confirmation once it is officially shipped and you'll see the option. You typically print out the form, sign and leave it on your door for UPS.

Anybody else choose pickup? When I completed my order I got to choose a time, starting at 8am, though the 8am slot was filled by the time I selected, so I got 8:30. I chose an easy to get configuration - iPhone 7, 128GB, Rose Gold. (I was tempted by the Plus, but it's too big for me to use one handed, which is necessary since my other hand has my coffee...)

Pickup Store

Apple Store, Fashion Island

Processing Items Check-in window: Friday, September 16, between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.

That's so good! What did you actually say to them and did they ask you to pay for the faster shipping? I thought they just tell me to be patient :D

The delivery app says 6 days till I get the iPhone preparing for shipment idk how they come up with 6 days

You will most likely get it on the 16th. Apple requires delivery companies to hold and NOT delivery before the 16th. Occasionally phone will slip through, but not many.

Got my email confirmation @2:05am CST and I have the same message on Apple.com. My time is 8:00 a.m to 8:30am. I'm wondering when does my card get charged? I hope that the ones who have reservation get in first I'm hoping to to be there at 7:45 a.m and out by 8:30 a.m. Picking up at Apple Store Mayfair I'm Milwaukee!!!
