So true. Called them a few times to ask about the trade in process if I order online. All of them tell me different answers. Even the people at the store don't know ****.

I suspect it might have more to do with Apple perhaps pushing the release date UP in order to silently capitalize offof the Samsung Note 7 fiasco. They could've set the release back another week and had more inventory/more idea of what inventory would be.

Apple is usually very meticulous in their iPhone releases, even with all the hype and years of supply not keeping up with demand it's still VERY unusual of them to have units going on backorder even before their released. Usually certain models will sell out an hour or two after availability, which is pretty fast in and of itself (but again oar for course) but Apple online and all carriers had issues with the plus models AS SOON as preorders began. Best Buy only had about an hour of availability for plusses before they were sold out COMPANY WIDE, across ALL units accept for the 256GB Rose Gold. It's really a bizarre launch this year...

Keep in mind there were some original rumors that the iPhone would actually release on 9/23/16 due to AT&T leaked memos of a store refresh, so it could be true especially with most of us with the Black and Jet Black 7+ models getting 9/19-26 ship dates and ordering in the first 5 min.

This is what I was just told from T-Mobile. 8 ordered at 11:55pm (pst)...
This is kinda ******** and I'm tired of having these issues with T-Mobile

I was late to the preorder party and preordered a iPhone 7 128 GB Jet Black Tuesday morning online at T-Mobile. Expected ship is between 11/1-11/30. Had one rep tell me I would likely receive it sooner, other reps have said that's their best estimate.

Card hasn't been charged yet. I get this was a really popular release and color but 2 months is a little ridiculous.

This is no different from the Gold 5s, Rose Gold 6s, and Space Black Watch. In the case of the Watch, those actually did arrive at the tail end of the shipping estimates.

You probably order the No. 1 most popular version of the 7/7+ so supply and demand. Simple as that.
