Isn't this the first time there was only one week rather than two weeks before pre-order and release?

Pretty sure that coupled with the lower expectations based on original forecasts and naysayers out there, the plus orders shocked the hell out of them, and they no where had enough produced.

That and figure they use the pre-order as a nice way to control inventory and supply and logistics.....just pretend it was the 2 week window. I got my phone on 9/25 last year AKA release day and ordered it on 9/11....

im still befuddled at how apple botched this launch...I just don't get it.

Did they really want to get the leg up on the Note 7 recall that bad that they launched the phone without any 7+ period? Seems like such a bad idea. But hey, what do they care this is exactly what they wanted! Free publicity and billions of dollars.
How is it "botched"? They are producing millions of phones to sell in one country? Could you imagine trying to complete that? Even a Billion Dollar company cannot get a factory to produce that much without woes of some form. Partially the cost associated would be too great. Just because you or someone else isnt getting a phone day one does not mean that it is botched. It just means that a lot of devices were ordered. Now as for T-Mobile, I think they botched it.. Because I was lied to on how to preorder, then they botched my pre order, then I had to reorder and cancel the phone they placed(because it was not what I told them) then three days later(Because they couldnt fix my order that day for some fraud thing) I had to order my phone... I got up at midnight and only got one phone ordered properly for my wife. Then I got my moms phone ordered, but tmobile cancelled it instead of my phone. So in total I spent about 15-20 hours on ordering iPhones over the span of 4 days. All because of very shotty customer support who refused to help at certain times or would not/could not fix things. But hey, its all fixed, and I am happy to say I will still get a phone eventually!

It sounds to me like there's a couple of factors at play here which makes this year's iPhone 7+'s hard to find:

1.) First time in iPhone history the Plus is more popular than the standard iPhone. Which means, they'll be cranking them out as fast as they can after the fact.
2.) Apple Upgrade Program snafu probably means Apple took shipments of the iPhone 7 Plus away from carriers to fulfill their own supply needs.

This is the first year I won't have it on launch day, but whatevs. My iPhone 6s works just fine anyhow.
I'm looking forward to the iPhone X next year. The 7 is just a beta test for it.

That's it in a nutshell. Apple and most all analysts didn't predict these kind of sales numbers for preorder of the 7's. They simply didn't make enough in time. Doesn't mean they weren't on production schedule...just means they didn't ramp up production like they should have for this many pre-orders.

My thing is how do you do a promotion and don't expect these kinds of number ?! At least a ball park would've been a better guess

Foxconn can produce upwards of 500,000 iPhones per day. The % for Jet Blacks out of that 500k, is much smaller, simply due to their specific manufacturing process.

Plus we gotta keep in mind, the US is one of several countries they are sending these out to.

I think it's as simple as Apple dropped the ball a bit with this launch. For black/jb plus models at least. It happens.

So essentially, Apple screwed over everyone else just to satisfy their iPhone Upgrade Program participants. Make some happy and piss off many more.

I am enjoying all of this, anticipation, commenting, etc. I don't expect my phone to be here today since I am given a window of 9/19-9/26. After that will be a different story. I know if I didn't preorder, that I would be out of luck and options going to a store.

The exact opposite actually. Hence the class action lawsuit suit that was started, by Apple Upgrade peeps. They were the ones who got the shafts this year. Apple has tried to make amends by reserving a few at Apple retail locations for them...but it was only a bandaid on a severed leg.

So since your phone is back ordered they're sending it to the warehouse?? Not try a sound dumb, kinda lost right now lol
From what he said when I spoke to him(the rep) was that all he sees on his end is that the phone is ready to be dropped at the warehouse. So I asked him which one and he replied "it doesn't tell me which one" and that the phone is back ordered right now. So to me, nobody has any idea what's going on and they are just coming up with info out of their a**.

Just left a T-Mobile store here in Atlanta, Ga and was told that they have no 7+ around town but they are expecting a shipment in on Monday of iPhone 7+ in only the 256 gb size. Take that for what it's worth.
